More like an apartment and the best view on the coast. Restaurant is a little over the top. Temperpedic beds which we really liked and may have to buy one. Definitely the nicest place on the coast and we will come again.

We stayed for 3 nights and agreed that it is one of the best places we have ever stayed in. A huge room (virtually a bedroom plus lounge) so plenty of space to chill out. Other reviewers have mentioned the lack of air conditioning and having to leave the patio doors open, but we would have done this anyway so that we could drift off to sleep to the sound of the waves. And what a view to greet you in the morning! A superb location.
The room was tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and well serviced.
We dined each evening in the Beck Restaurant and twice chose the taster menu which was excellent, with some unusual combinations to enjoy. The staff were wonderful, explaining how each dish had been prepared.
Overall, a wonderful stay and will be our first choice if we are ever in the area again.

Our room was awesome and we loved everything about it. The fireplace was great as it's cold in the evenings during the summer! The views are stunning and we like the smaller Inn's. My only complaint would be the breakfast. The guy in charge of the breakfast didn't seem concerned that there was not enough food both mornings we were there. He had a small bowl of berries and the quiche didn't stay warm if you didn't show up right at 8:00. They know the hotel was going to be full and should plan accordingly! But, we would definitely stay there again

What a lovely two-night stay we had at the Whale Cove Inn. The location and views were superb, the room so beautifully laid-out and well-appointed, our every need was well thought through and provided for. Lying in bed and opening the curtains to the cove view was amazing - even in the fog. If you are anywhere along the Oregon coast you should make it a point to stay here. And eat at the restaurant too!

Our beautiful third floor suite at the Whale Cove Inn was a home-away-from-home. The room was huge with a comfortable seating area and deck from which to enjoy the glorious view. Excellent bed linens and amenities in the bathroom. The bathroom was also very spacious with 2 sinks and a huge shower. General Manager Sarah, and Carol at the front desk were always helpful and good humored! The Whale Cove Inn is a very deluxe, but still cozy, home base from which to visit many beautiful spots along the Oregon Coast.

This was our second 3-night stay at the Inn and I could end this review by simply stating that we are already looking forward to the next stay! If you seek a simple, beachfront, family inn with all of the confusion and noise that goes with it . . . . this is NOT the spot. The Inn is located about a mile south of the town of Depoe Bay flanked by woods to the north and south and Whale Cove to the west. The general tranquility of the location is more than complimented by the spectacular view.

Our Signature Suite is worthy of the name. Spacious and comfortable indeed with abundant closet and drawer space and a very large bath with an equally large, unique, shower for at least two! True, there is no air conditioning which was not missed at all on either of our mid-July stays, however, there is a fireplace which is needed and used during the chilly, early morning hours. In addition to comfortable seating. the very large balcony also sports a spa!

Breakfast is a semi-formal, white linen experience, with an ample variety of items and two hot dishes served in Restaurant Beck on the main level looking out on the cove. Dinner at Restaurant Beck is a five-star experience - food and service - maintaining the casual elegance prevalent throughout the Inn.

We have been vacationing on the Oregon coast in July for about eight years. During the first five of those years, we stayed at different hotels, in search of the ideal spot. The search ended last year with the Whale Cove Inn.

We took the second floor suite and were hugely impressed with the sheer luxury and spaciousness of it all, whilst the view is just as spectacular as others have remarked and dinner was first class. This is all the more remarkable as I remember its previous incarnation as a single-storey, weatherbeaten-shingle roadhouse in the seventies when I first started driving that road. Downside? Well, no waterfront access - that I suspect might be an engineering impossibility given the location - nor access to the very inviting beach and caves across the cove, which is a bit of a puzzle as I have always understood that access to all beaches in Oregon was mandatory in law! Another downside for me, at least, is the buffet-style breakfast, but that's just me, as everyone else in our party had nothing but good things to say about it. I'm not a buffet person! Must mention Sarah at reception and her encyclopaedic local knowledge.
