My husband and I stayed 2 days at the lodge while elk hunting in the area. Our room was small but cozy and clean with a comfortable mattress. The only thing missing was a coffeemaker in the room but we had been warned so we brought our own. The staff was very friendly (especially Hedy at the front desk) and helpful. We ate 3 meals in the restaurant and found them to be quite delicious and filling. We especially enjoyed the fireside room where we enjoyed a glass of wine before dinner in front of a roaring fire. The views from the lodge are fantastic. We'll be back next year during elk season!

My son was hiking the PCT and they were nice enough to let him park his car at the resort for a couple weeks. When I took him back to his car we stayed over night in one of the cozy cabins overlooking the cold and snowy lake. We enjoyed sitting by the big fireplace in the lodge and having a glass of wine/beer and ate dinner and breakfast in the dining room, both meals were very good! One unusual incident was when we arrived we were greeted by "big foot"! It was pretty funny, I think they were taking some publicity shots for a new brochure!

While the lake is very windy past 2PM every day, it is beautiful and worth exploring......if your lucky enough to be able to rent a boat.

My girlfriend and I checked in on a Saturday afternoon, and the older lady at the front told us that we could rent one in the morning, "no reservations needed". When we came back at 9 AM, the same lady told us that all the kayaks were rented out (they only had two), and that we should check back in a few hours if we were still interested. How a place this size only has two kayaks on hand is beyond me, and I would have appreciated knowing ahead of time that the numbers were limited instead of being told "no reservations needed"

This same older lady was extremely unhelpful when I asked about places to swim, hike, or buy groceries, but some of her coworkers were more helpful. The meals were overpriced for the quality.

Tent sites were nice and clean with great views, bathrooms near campsites were disgusting.

It sounds like there are some other nice places around this lake...I'd check those out first

We went up here for a weekend getaway. Had a great time! The staff are all so helpful and offer amazing customer service. Enjoyed hiking, going around the lake in a rental boat, kayaking, live music, great food and just a place of amazing beauty. It is rustic, but that was perfect for us! Only complaint -- the rooms in the lodge offer little/no privacy, but the cabins provide all of that one would want. Will definitely be back here every year!

Room Tip: Cabins 16 & 17 have amazing views..if you get a room in the lodge room 25 offers lake views with the most privacy. There's also camping at "Sunset Cove" right across Odell creek which offers you lake access and access to the amenities at the lodge.

Went for the night recently, the staff was extremely helpful but were new and not terribly knowledgeable. We weren't happy with our cabin, so they graciously showed us around to other cabins until we found a cute remodeled one that was available (Cabin 5). We were concerned with the black around the water heater pipe and the bed was rock hard, and the water was scalding hot. Amenity wise, there were coffee filters but no paper towels, barely enough plates and cups, nice clean bathroom with plenty of towels for the four of us.
We had a pleasant evening out on the patio around the fire pit, ate a nice dinner in the restaurant and other than the hard bed, a peaceful night (other than the train that came through every now and then).
They let us check out at noon so we made breakfast on the gas stove (we did think to bring our own pan..there were only two).
A couple downers: Their boats and paddle boats were old and run down looking and the rental rates were very high. The horses were pretty old and creeky, with bad feet, and they were pretty ribby, although they seemed to have plenty of food...for the horse's sake, don't ride them!
I loved the old resort feel, but don't think we'll be back.

Room Tip: Cabin 5 or Cabin 16 were by far the best. Bring an egg crate if you don't like hard beds.
