I've heard the music scene here is good. If you want that review check elsewhere because we came to eat and drink.
We'd been bike riding nearby and one of our party suggested we get a beer at the Axe and Fiddle. Not only do they have a variety of very interesting brews available but as it turns out their food - at least what we ate - was GREAT!
Four of us ate light meals - three of us had the pulled pork sliders and I had the salmon chowder. The sliders were decent sized and quite honestly one of the better BBQs I've had outside my state of North Carolina. Pulled pork with coleslaw on top just like we do it in NC. You get three and a dill pickle on the side. My salmon chowder was one of the best chowders I've eaten. It not only had chunks of smoked salmon (not nova or lox but pieces of smoked fish) but also clams, but pieces of potato, a bit of bacon, and some other things that I didn't take the time to identify. A great smokey flavor, a touch of sweet from the salmon, and hearty.
The only slightly downside......the service wasn't as it could be. We were there from about 4:30 - 6:30 on a weeknight in a prominent spot and once we finally resorted to getting up to find someone who could refill our glasses.
