During the many years of New Morning's existence, we have come for coffee on weekend evenings when there was live music, stopped often for coffee and a baked goody with friends, and had coffee and a goody with a scheduled committee meeting. Most recently, New Morning has begun offering breakfast, so we decided to try that option. We were in a for a bit of a surprise. I had my eye on their hazelnut pancakes, the first item on the menu. That was a good and filling breakfast, but we were surprised to find the pancakes topped by whipping cream. (I guess we missed seeing that on the menu.) My wife, a fan of french toast, was more surprised to find that entrée missing entirely. We just assumed that would be the other lead item on the menu, especially given that New Morning makes great Challah bread. Perhaps that entrée can soon be added to the menu.
Once we removed the whipping cream from our pancakes and had butter, we enjoyed our breakfast. The pancakes were served with a homemade berry topping, making a tasty combination.
New Morning provides a venue for many, ranging from those wishing coffee and a baked item (cookies, rolls, tortes, etc.) to lunchgoers ordering from the deli, to those who have attended a movie or play and wanting a post-event dessert.
The walls are consistently covered with art work from local artisans, thus making a cozy atmosphere for the community. It's conveniently located in downtown Corvallis, a step away from Grass Roots Bookstore, across the street from Francesca's, the source of great gelato.
