OSU Forestry Dept. uses this area for studies on re-forestation and tree harvesting. Therefore the forest isn't a natural one, although stands of trees are allowed to grow tall. With the high canopy and scant undergrowth of most areas, there wasn't good birdwatching (although we saw garter snakes) once you left the more abundant growth along the streams. Still, a good place for exercise; many joggers and hikers on the trails. Busy.
