“Food was so-so, service was poor”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

We stopped here for a "quick" breakfast on a week day morning. After being seated it took some time before our order was taken. The restaurant was about 50% full and we were seated at a table in the center of the traffic area. We noticed other tables who ordered after us by a different server were getting their food but we couldn't even get the attention of our server. Finally after waiting half an hour for two simple breakfasts.....bacon and eggs.... we stopped her and got a very nonchalent I'll check on it response. 10 minutes later finally success. There's no doubt in my mind that she forgot to turn the order in. There was no apology and her excuse was that the kitchen was busy. After all that, the breakfast was a 4 out of 10. Not worth the wait and the frustation of dealing with a server who apparently doesn't take pride in her job.

“Very meh”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

Not sure why there are so many reviewers rating this place excellent. At best, it is the kind of cafe one would find in a college town: funky grunge style, affordable prices, large portions, so-so quality.

My Spanish Omelet with spicy chorizo was bland, hash browns were greasy, Grandma's homemade strawberry jam looked scary in the squeeze-style container normally used for ketchup or mustard, empty tables were not cleared for a long time, menu sticky, table top wet, condiment bottles looked dirty. Service was decent.

It's definitely not worth a 15-minute or more wait as some reviewers mentioned. Might be a good place for starving college kids with large appetities and less discerning standards.

“Great breakfast joint”

The serve great breakfast food, its what they do, and what they're good at. Travleosity wants me to say more, but all they are is a simple, friendly place for breakfast with great food.

“The Best Breakfast in town”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

Wow, had to stand in line for a while on Sunday a.m. to get in here, but it was worth the wait. Great selection from an 8 egg omelette to pancakes to really superb home fries (plus yummy home made strawberry jam) Family friendly, yet funky atmosphere & good food that would appeal to all ages.

“Best Breakfast in Town!”

There is no better place to stop for breakfast or brunch than Broken Yolk. The omelets are always great, the coffee is good and the service is wonderful.
