“Wildlife viewing!”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

Be sure to stop at the Simpson Wildlife Viewing area, especially if it's sunny, and bring binoculars. You can see the seals and sea lions hanging out on nearby rocks. Then, go out to the viewing area at the end of the Cape. We saw a whale from here. You can also hike down to a viewpoint to the north of the stone viewpoint, the North Cove area, and the South Cove area, which has tidepools when the tide is low, and interpretive staff if you're there at the right time.

“Sea lions”
Reviewed July 19, 2014

This is a beautiful park with some hiking trails, there are a lot of sea lions out there and one trail is closed during pupping season.

“Awesome View”
Reviewed July 16, 2014

It was a bit foggy so the view of the coastline wasn't vast but it was awesome. The water was clear, shaggy rocky coastline and lots of sea life barking in the distance. They have flush toilets, old but a great convenience. A nice picnic pavilion with parking is located by the restrooms. We enjoyed the fresh air and the short walk to the overlook. It's a beautiful park with lots of hiking nearby.

“Don't miss Simpson Reef !!”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

This place is beautiful. Be sure to bring your binoculars and stop at view point Simpson Reef where all the seals are on the rocks on Shell Island. It will be good to go when the day is clear as you will be able to get a better view of the many seals and sea lions on the rocks!!! An experience not to be missed....

“Wild Coastline Views”
Reviewed June 27, 2014 via mobile

Beautiful coastal drive from Coos Bay out to the parks. Plenty of hiking opportunities exist or stop along all the turnouts available, but do stop and check out the coastline with its unique rock formations. The botanical garden at Shore Acres was stunning with its huge array of roses and other non native flowers. While you are there go to the observation point take in the view and read up on the history. Quite interesting. Down the coast not far we were able to pull over and check out a colony of elephant seals-spectacular!
