I absolutely love Kum Yon's. Their Mongolian Beef is my favorite dish of all time regardless of type of cuisine. Their Bento is great also. Every time I visit Coos Bay I try to make a stop here.

The service was good. But the food was just average. They do have a good variety of menu items. I may have just been me. I will say the rest of my family liked it.

While Coos Bay might not be your first choice for Asian cuisine, the exception to that rationale would definitely be Kum-Yon's. From the Koi pond with Umbrella Palms to the Japanese Maples decorating the entrance, to the cozy interior with many Oriental touches, this restaurant is very pleasant indeed. The menu is diverse, offering Chinese, Japanese, Korean and American dishes. The prices are reasonable, and the service is above average. Lunch is served from 11am to 3pm, and early bird specials are offered from 3-6pm. Visually pleasing, and a treat for your palate--you won't be disappointed if you visit Kum Yon's.

Coos Bay, Oregon certainly is not the garden spot of central coastal Oregon but it does have some good points. One is Kum Yon. One can always tell a good Asian restaurant by the way vegetables are cooked (or over-cooked). At Kum Yon the veggies are perfect, crispy not soggy. Beef is tender and not over-cooked. Hot and sour soup was fine tasting but a bottle of rice wine vinegar on the table would have been a good thing. Pot stickers were crisp, inside succulent. Green tea was from teabags but then most Americans won't know the difference anyway. Prices are reasonable, service (from server named April) was excellent. Nice meal in an otherwise dour town.

I can get KimChee if I ask for it, the plates are generous and fresh, this is one of my favorite restaurants in town.
