“Wonderful salad bar, soups, breads, pastas ...”
Reviewed October 10, 2010

Sweet Tomatoes has one of the best salad bars anywhere around.

This is an all buffet, serve yourself restaurant. You enter and pick up a tray, then start with the salad bar. There must be at least 100 items from which to choose. At the end of the long salad bar, you select if you want a purchased beverage (water is free). Then find a table to eat.

When you've finished your salad, you can go back for more, or wander over and try the soup bar, as there are usually at least 6 kinds of soups. Or perhaps you'd like to try one of several kinds of fresh cooked pastas. Or maybe munch on one of several kinds of hot artisan breads or fresh-from-the-oven mini muffins. There is also fruit, hot baked potatos, and a few desserts. Even the beverage selection is interesting - in addtition to the usual soft drinks, they have several juices and iced teas.

Everything is made from scratch using only the freshest ingredients, and you can really taste the difference. Lunch is about $8 a person; dinner is about $11.

Highly recommended :-)

The salad bar is huge and has lots of premade salads as well as individual ingredients to make your own, along with many standard salad dressings. They have a hot food area that comes with the salad bar, with several soups, a few pasta dishes and muffins and bread. I can't say we have liked any of the soups, they all have tasted institutional canned soups and on the salty side. They have a small selection of fruit and pudding for dessert and a soft-serve machine. Seems to be very popular with families and it is usually crowded when we go. Seating is tight so you will be able to hear everyone's conversation around you. The price seemed reasonable even if eating just salad, about $8 for lunch plus drink.

Good range of food. The food seems more prepared than when it originally opened. Typically very clean.
