Luckily Lonely Planet listed the Portside Restaurant or we would never have looked for or found it, as it's a bit off the main road, set back in the harbor area. The menu offered innovative dishes and had a nice wine list. We really enjoyed the food, the place, and the service.

We had an elegant lunch in this upscale restaurant, sitting at a table overlooking the small boat basin. Excellent food, excellent service, nice menu, good wine list.

Have eaten here frequently, living in Florence. Food not bad, service slow. We ordered two pepsis, received about 4 ounces in a glass full of ice, asked for more and were told no free refills! Crazy, ALL restaurants on the coast offer all you can drink. When we were leaving, we complained to the other watiress who apparently was a manager/owner offered to give us a refill...as we were on our way out. Too many other choices, we'll not go back there, nor will our friends.

Do not eat here. We were visiting in Coos Bay and upon ordering a seafood platter my son noticed a bug in the batter around a piece of salmon. I looked and verified. We told our waitress who also said, "oh no, looks like one to me" who proceeded to take it to the cook and we could hear him from the back room when he hollered at her. "That's not a bug"! The waitress did or said nothing but give us our bill. The cook did or said nothing. So unless you like battered small, black critters with two antennae, do not think of eating here.

We were here three years ago, and couldn't wait to come back. Unfortunately, it seems to have suffered some reversals. Service was slow, waitress mediocre. That being said, the chowder was good, and the Alaskan Cod special was some of the best fish I've ever tasted.
