Owner description: Crater Rock Museum houses the finest displays of rocks, minerals and gems on the West Coast. Exhibits include a collection of world-class minerals, collection of petrified woods, fossils, Native American artifacts, and much more! The museum gift shop is filled with the works of local artists from the Roxy Ann Gem & Mineral Society. The museum started out as a humble "shack" where locals could visit and perhaps ask about an interesting rock, or to gather around as a group and share "rock hounding" stories. It's grown a lot since then. In fact, we've completed our expansion project that began in 2003. The original 5,400 square foot museum is now more than 12,000 square feet, housing community meeting rooms, a larger gift shop, workshop, and exhibit areas. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm, admission is $4 for adults, $2 for students & seniors (55+), ages 0 to 5 are free. Guided tours are available by appointment. We also offer meeting facilities to house one-time gatherings, or on-going weekly or monthly business sessions.

I was so surprised to find this gem of a museum. You will be amazed by the artifacts and exhibits. I had family members of all different ages visiting me this summer. This museum was the perfect place for everyone. I also liked that it wasn't too big and will go back again with my grandchildren for a sunday afternoon adventure this fall.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our museum. We are happy that you and your family enjoyed your visits this summer. The Crater Rock Museum strives to provide world-class exhibits for all ages.

Please note that the museum is closed on Sunday and Monday but perhaps your grandchildren would like to attend the Kids Day events held the second Saturday of the month. We look forward to your return visit!

Run by volunteers who love rocks, crystals & gems. They've got some good ones, collected from all around the region and beyond. You don't need long, so include this with one or two other activities.
