another great spot to enjoy.
are you in a hurry to get through the gorge drive?
do you think there is nothing to see but that river? been there. done that. yup
I have been by this many times and now I can say I have stopped there.
even planed it as a stop as I toured friends between my home and Portland.
yes the sturgeon ponds, the trail you enjoy the other fish you see and can learn about if you have an Icthy mind to. ;)

this is a good way to add more interest to the trip. make this part of your travel plan as you cross North Oregon on I-84.
give some thought to planning to enjoy the scenic byway - these can be destinations.
there are camping areas nearby and hotels - even lodges.
oh and look for the paddle wheel boat. it is nearby and you will enjoy a ride on that

This is a chance to see fish of all sizes being raised for release. Trout, salmon, and sturgeon are in abundance, with viewing windows and exhibits that cover everything A large open areaq, lots to see.

Besides the main attraction, a 10 ft long sturgeon visit the salmon and trout tanks.. Excellent to combine with the Bonneville Lock, Dam and fish ladder.

This fish hatchery is right along the highway. It was a great spot to stop for an hour maximum, and get a great picture or two. You can walk around the hatchery tanks, and view the sturgeon thru a large viewing glass. Bring your camera.
