Husband and I went and visited the dam and fish hatchery yesterday. What beautiful views and gorgeous flowers to see there. We took the free tour, which they say takes 45 minutes, but it's more like 20; depends on how long you stay over there. It's a nice place to visit and learn some history and it's all free! We enjoyed our time at the dam and fish hatchery. Go on a nice day; it's beautiful there, if the weather is nice. We spent about 2 1/2 hours between the two places.

The Bonneville Lock & Dam is definitely a hidden gem. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to see the dam and how it all works. We joined one of the guided tours to the Powerhouse and the guide explained gave us a presentation that talked about the locks and the history. We learned so much and wished we could spend more time there. This is a great experience for all ages.

Take the tour to see the inside of the dam and the power plant and make sure you see the salmon ladders and the fish as they get counted.

Wonderful visitor's center. You will get to see fish go through the fish latter, learn about the environmental issues facing the river and can go over to the fish hatchery. Particularly a good stop with kids.

We didn't have this on our list of must visit but though why not? We had some extra time and though the kids might like to see the fish. It was a very interesting experience. I am glad we stopped. It is crazy to see how much water goes through there and the forces at which it does. I saw some strange fish I had never seen or heard of which also added to the strangeness of this stop. loved it.
