“Beautiful location, charming owners, delicous breakfasts”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 3, 2009

Ideally located in the Willamette Valley, the Lobenhaus B&B itself is in 28 acres of beautiful gardens and vineyards. Shari and Joe are a charming and interesting couple – we enjoyed chatting to them and plagued Joe with questions about wild birds we had seen…all of which he was able to answer!

Our rooms (Oak and Pine) were spacious, with comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. They were so clean that you would think that the B&B had only just opened. We loved the deck areas outside each room and being able to wander through the gardens and vineyard.

The breakfasts were delicious and filling on both days. As indeed were the cookies made by Shari’s mother – we loved her white chocolate and macadamia cookies.

The first night we ate at the Dundee Bistro on Shari’s recommendation. Perfect! Lovely, relaxed ambiance with great food and wine. The second night, again on Shari’s recommendation, we tried Tina’s in Dundee. Although we couldn’t fault the food or wine (except for the cheese soufflé which wasn’t a success), it was less relaxed than the Dundee Bistro, so if you only have one night we would say go there.

My wife and i spent a couple of days at the Lobenhaus to visit the many vineyards in the Valley! The hosts Joe and Shari were just wonderful providing tips on where to go and what to see and just making us feel so at home! The grounds are a paradise with many many varities of trees, flowers and birds. The rooms was very comfortable and the decks overlooking the property are a great place to unwind with a glass of Pinot. The breakfast are out of site and prepare you for a full day of activity. And dont forget Moms' homemade cookies while you are there! We are already planning our return visit in the fall to restock our cellar and the Lobenhaus will defintely be our home base!

We absolutley love Lobenhaus for us and three to four other couples that always join us for a Great Birthday celebration. We don't know what we like the best: the rooms, the place for game playing and visiting, the breakfasts or JOE AND SHARI. OK it's all of the above and I wouldn't want to spend my Birthday any other way.

This was the absolute highlight of our week-long trip to Oregon. We stayed 2 nights at Lobenhaus and enjoyed the wonderful hospitality and beautiful property. Joe and Shari greeted us warmly and gave us great recommendations and tips for the area. The rooms were clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The common area was well-appointed with handy local magazines, a huge satellite TV for us nighttime homebody types, and a nice eating area. The breakfast (what I look most forward to at a B&B) was delicious. They used ingredients grown in their garden (which is AMAZING by the way) and local ingredients from the McMinnville Farmer's Market. My fiancee and I still talk about the scrambled eggs. Location-wise, it's convenienly located minutes from the main highway and within easy reach of the wineries and downtown McMinnville.

We believe this is the best Bed and Breakfast in Yamhill County. Joe and Shari are both gracious hosts with their warm and inviting personalities. We were greeted with fresh home baked cookies! The Lobensteins are very knowledgeable on what to do and where to eat in the surrounding area. Their Bed and Breakfast is located on 28 acreas with ponds, waterfeatures, gardens and 9 acreas of vineyards. The room was well appointed with an exceptionally comfortable bed and each room has an outside entrance from a common deck which overlooks the ponds and waterfeatures. The room was very clean. We enjoyed the 2 common areas which had fireplaces and TVs with soft sofas for comfortable sitting and space for reading or relaxing. There was a large clean dining area where guests were served an awesome full breakfast. This is one of the best, if not the best, B&Bs we have stayed in. The price was a great value. We highly recommend staying at the Lobenhaus B&B, which is why we chose it to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary.

My wife and I stayed the night of July 18th, 2008, at Lobenhaus. The whole experience was great. Lobenhaus is set on 28 acres of vineyards, wooded hills, and natural walking paths, a lot of which we traversed. Our room was spotless, comfortable and nicely decorated (according to my wife) with a private entry off of the wrap around deck. The rest of the facility featured a huge dining room and two spacious common areas. A very large breakfast was delicious and filling, so you will be pleasantly stuffed. The proprietors, Shari and Joe, made us feel very welcome. Shari recommended an excellent restaurant and made the reservations for us due to the close proximity to dinner time. Joe answered our questions about growing grapes and showed us his refractometer that he uses to measure the brix value (sugar content) of the grapes. We wanted to stay longer, but our trip itinerary was already set. We definitely would go back to Lobenhaus and we highly recommend it.

My wife and I and two friends just returned from a trip to Oregon with included 3 days at the Lobenhaus Bed & Breakfast in Carlton, Oregon. It is centrally located in the wine country west of Portland, not too far but far enough off the beaten path. We had lovely rooms, each very roomy and with their own bathrooms and A/C. We were in the Birch room and our friend were in the ELM room, which both had windows on the east side to let in the morning sun, and give a nice view of their 2-level water feature and a small vineyard. Both had easy, direct access to the outside and to the deck, which overlooked the stream and the larger vineyard. The deck was a nice place to relax and enjoy our morning coffee and tea, and our wine in the afternoon and evening. Shari and Joe Lobenstein are the proprietors, and they were very nice, friendly, and accomodating. The breakfasts were tasty, and there was always fresh fruit to be had along with chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon. The coffee and tea were always available before breakfast was served at 9am in the spacious main room. There were also two lovely common rooms, one on each floor, if you just wanted to relax indoors. Shari was great with directions, first giving us a scenic route to get to the coast, and later giving us a route back to the Portland airport that avoided almost all the congestion during the morning commute. We hope to return to the Lobenhaus sometime soon.
