“Very Glad We Chose the Lobenhaus B & B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2008

My wife and I and two friends just returned from a trip to Oregon with included 3 days at the Lobenhaus Bed & Breakfast in Carlton, Oregon. It is centrally located in the wine country west of Portland, not too far but far enough off the beaten path. We had lovely rooms, each very roomy and with their own bathrooms and A/C. We were in the Birch room and our friend were in the ELM room, which both had windows on the east side to let in the morning sun, and give a nice view of their 2-level water feature and a small vineyard. Both had easy, direct access to the outside and to the deck, which overlooked the stream and the larger vineyard. The deck was a nice place to relax and enjoy our morning coffee and tea, and our wine in the afternoon and evening. Shari and Joe Lobenstein are the proprietors, and they were very nice, friendly, and accomodating. The breakfasts were tasty, and there was always fresh fruit to be had along with chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon. The coffee and tea were always available before breakfast was served at 9am in the spacious main room. There were also two lovely common rooms, one on each floor, if you just wanted to relax indoors. Shari was great with directions, first giving us a scenic route to get to the coast, and later giving us a route back to the Portland airport that avoided almost all the congestion during the morning commute. We hope to return to the Lobenhaus sometime soon.

The Lobenhaus combines the best of both worlds- Rustic beauty and modern convenience.. The rooms are comfortable and the common areas are stunning. There are 2 lounge areas on different levels. Each opens to a large deck with views of the property and woods. Most of the top wineries are within a few minutes and there are several outstanding restaurants in the area. The hosts are wonderful and always willing to go out of their way to help.

Lovely, lovely, lovely! We just completed a wonderful weekend at the Lobenhaus and we enjoyed every moment of our stay. The other reviews on this site express the qualities of the hosts and and the grounds. I'd like to add that this bed and breakfast is the first where I've felt really comfortable and at home throughout the house and grounds. This is in large part due to the graciousness of the hosts, Shari and Joe, as well as the design of home. The rooms are a comfortable size and each have their own large bathrooms and access to a spacious outdoor deck or patio. We enjoyed more than one bottle of wine while looking out over the lucious landscape. The common areas are also large and comfortable and designed to be enjoyed by the guests, not just look pretty - which they do.
My husband, who just read the review, wanted me to be sure to add that one of the common rooms has a large screen tv where he and one of our travel companions could watch the baseball game and enjoy some wine and conversation. And we all loved that there is a guest "kitchen" with a small common refridgerator (stocked with water and sodas) to chill a bottle of wine or store left overs from one of the devine local eateries. And the breakfasts are awesome. If you're looking for a fabulous get-a-way, we highly recommend the Lobenhaus.

The Lobenhaus slogan: Hospitality with Distinction in the Heart of Wine County says it all. The innkeepers, Joe & Shari, offered exceptional service and anticipated our every need. The grounds & vineyard are tranquil and offer immediate relaxation. If you are looking to stay in Willamette Valley, Oregon, we would highly recommend the Lobenhaus.

We stayed for 6 nights in June, and couldn't fault a thing! The location - in the heart of the Oregon wine country - is perfect, the guests' living areas and bedrooms and were very spacious, the grounds of the property very attractive (28 acres, much planted to vines) and Shari and Joe excellent hosts. Particularly notable were the breakfasts (let's just say that we didn't ever have to eat lunch!) and the design of the house - it was specially built as a B&B very recently, and everything has been very well thought out. Highly recommended.

My husband and I took a chance on a fairly new B&B in the heart of the wine country in beautiful Oregon. We found it on their website, and were impressed with what they had to offer: Quiet scenery, luxurious rooms with private baths, and a hearty breakfast. We were able to cuddle by the fire and nibble on the house goodies left out for us guests to enjoy. The owners, Joe and Shari, were extremely accomodating and helpful when it came to site seeing and local restaurants. The Lobenhaus is really a magnificent home which we will definately visit again! We encourage everyone to check this place out; you will not be disappointed.

A wonderful place to stay while visitng the wine country in the Willamette Valley. Quiet and comfortable accomodations, gracious hosts and a very central location. The breakfasts were outstanding. If you enjoy coming and going on your own, ask for a second floor room opening on the terrace. Highly recommended.
