“A wonderful, cozy hotel....”
Reviewed December 11, 2011

This the first time we stayed at the Cannon Beach Hotel. We stayed at the Courtyard, their sister hotel. It is a welcoming and charming setting with a small courtyard in the center, and a library with fireplace off to the side. We stayed in #20, which is a corner upstairs unit with a small view of the ocean. The room was cozy with a fireplace directly opposite the queen bed. It has a small table for dining and couch with a flat screen T. V. We enjoyed our room a lot. The one thing is that you can hear water running pretty loudly in from a near by room. We met some other people staying there as well. We found out they were directly below us, and they said they could hear us walking pretty loudly. We were not tromping, just walking around the room. I think the rooms are not insulated very well. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return.....to room #20. The hotel is walking distance to many areas, and close to the beach. It is well kept, very clean, and designed very cutely.

Room Tip: For a good location, and charming hotel you will enjoy this hotel. I would not stay in the downstai...

We stayed at this place for only one night. We choose one of the small rooms. It was definitely worth the money, specially compared to other places in Cannon beach.
As written in a previous review, the shower is a strange concept, it has a rainhead, and there is no way to avoid you hair from getting wet...
The breakfast was Ok, very basic, not special.
At night the plumbing makes a lot of noise.

We were on a 21 day road trip and needed to find a new place to stay in Cannon Beach. The reviews looked ok, so we booked it. Our room was very small and the bed only a double. It was tight quarters, but it was their smallest room. The shower was horrible, tight, very small and tucked up into a corner, it had a rain head fixture, which we thought might be neat. But, you could not even move in the shower, or shave legs etc. I have long hair, and prefer not to wash it every day...there was NO WAY to shower without getting your hair wet and no shower cap offered. Will definately not stay in the small room again, but will stay with the hotel....a bigger room, with a bigger bed and a bigger shower. Front desk staff were ok, not overly friendly and seemed more interested in what was on there computer screen than telling us about the area, tides, where to eat etc. Having said that, the young, tiny girl who worked the opening shift was friendly and helpful. Also, the internet was virtually useless, had to walk around with the laptop in my hands til I found a spot where it worked. Internet should not be such a big deal...it is 2011! There were also weird (maybe creeky pipes, it is a historical landmark building) noises all night, if you are a light sleeper, not sure how much sleep you would get.

Room Tip: look at the floor plans and find out what size bed is in each room, traffic noise was not bad at the...

This is a good place to stay. We were in the Mcbee cottages and were very pleased with the amenities. Someone gave a very poor rating for lack of amenities, obviously they do not have a computer or do not know to make a phone call. We got exactly what was described in the brochure and on line site. Would (will) stay there again; close to everything and fairly reasonable rates.

We stayed in the Courtyard section of this inn and were disappointed after all the rave reviews. Having stayed on hotels overlooking the beach on previous nights, this place felt dark and much more urban (despite the brave little courtyard and fountain). The bed was comfortable and we appreciated the good reading chair, but the room was stuffy and too warm. There was no bureau and very little closet space. We like to unpack when staying for a few nights but could not do so in this room. We had opted out of the breakfast because of the advertized kitchenette in the room, but without work space or dishes (!!), the "kitchenette" (a microwave and tiny fridge) was not useful. This was the most expensive place we stayed on our three-week trip, an indulgence over my birthday, but it was not worth the extra money!

This is a charming inn on a beautiful Oregon Coast beach. They maintain it very well and the room was a treat, well appointed and comfortable with a gas fireplace that worked well on wonderfully cool evenings.I don't know what the story was with the on-premises restaurant, but it was never open during our weekend stay. One recommendation for the management....invest some time in training front staff and raise the standards for acceptable guest service. Specific examples: When I arrived on Friday afternoon and approached the desk, the young lady simply looked at me until I said I had a reservation. No greeting or welcome, just how did I spell my last name. Later we asked about several restaurants and pubs, with the response that they (two staff at the desk) hadn't been to them, but they looked okay on line. When we went down for the continental breakfast in the lobby, again no greeting or "Good morning", just glanced up and then went back to doing something on their cell phone. Some smart and enthusiastic hiring and training really would have made this an excellent property.
