“Ate her twice during a weekend stay”
Reviewed October 5, 2011

We ate dinner here twice on our last stay. The first day we enjoyed sitting out side, the weather was great so it was nice to sit out side and enjoy the sun. The second night we ate in the bar. They have some good "girlie" drinks. The clam chowder is good and we really enjoyed the pizza. The wait staff is great, very pleasant and helpful. We at there twice because we liked the atmosphere and the selection of foods offered. We even walked all over town the second night and returned to the Lumberyard for the food value and selection. We will return on our next visit to the area.

“My 54th Birthday on 9-24-2011 around 6:00pm was ruined! You were CLOSED!”
Reviewed September 27, 2011

My family and I were celebrating a beautiful Saturday in our favorite Oregon Coast community
of Cannon Beach, OR. We had worked up an appetite, and I have been to The Lumberyard on several other occasions with wonderful experiences. I saw cars parked around and stopped in the back parking right off the bar entrance. I went up to the door and looked inside, no one was home. I was so disappointed. I hate to tell the family of four that we would not get to eat and drink at the BEST Place in the area. So, I drove south of town to another old favorite, Sorry, Mo's. What a mistake! I will not share the Bad experience here. Just wish it
could have been better at your wonderful mouth watering Rotisserie and Grill. Next time I am going to visit I will call first to get the hours you are open. Thanks, Don P. from Longview, WA

“One of my favorites in Cannon beach.”
Reviewed September 22, 2011

The food is good, the service is great and the cost is as good as it gets for cannon beach. They have a good sized place that has several beers on tap and a good bar. They have stiens of beer and a good bartender.

“Standard American Style Restaurant Done Well”
Reviewed September 17, 2011

We enjoyed the food at the Lumber yard. Chili, Cornbread, and Steak were all prepared well. On our second visit the Chili wasn't as good (seemed to have less prime pieces of beef). Service on both occasions has good, however on the second occasion (off-season, Monday dinner) they seemed to be fielding their "B-team" Our server had little knowledge of the menu:
Q: What's in the seasonal vegetables side?
A: I am not sure, I think those long green ones… Asparagus?
(Turns out to be Zucchini and Carrots)

Q: What is Madeira Sauce?
A: Its an expensive sauce made with wood
Q: just wood?
A: yes
(Turns out it is a rich peppery sauce which is made with Madeira wine. It contains dairy, which would be good to know)

No we weren't asking out bus boy these questions thinking we was our waiter…. But they may have been giving a bus boy a shot at moving up to being a waiter… who knows...

However he was prompt and attentive, which made up for his lack of knowledge.

A bonus of eating here is if you are guests of the surfsand resort, your kid eats free. They will also sometimes offer preferred seating to hotel guests if you call ahead.

The atmosphere is decidedly casual… lots of rustic wood (lumberyard...right) and knick-knacks on the walls, The bar is prominent in the center, and TVs display sporting events. It is however family friendly.

Sounds like the B-team needs a lot more training in our menu to move up to the A-team. Thank you for your post and letting me know what your experience was like. Regards, Vicki Clarke
