“A marriage of flavors, great "show-and-tell," sharing and yet intimate setting”
Reviewed September 6, 2010

I had two dinners at EVOO, one in April and one in August. Both were a happy "marriage" of flavors, with a beautiful presentation. They meshed perfectly with the effortless "ballet" of Bob and Lenore's show--preparing the meal in front of us, giving us "tips for the layman," and welcoming our questions. Their staff complements them with great symbiosis.

The setting is friendly with a few guests around the preparation area and others at small tables behind it. There is a notable effort to make it a sharing experience to all, while at the same time, preserving the distinct parties of guests. Bob and Lenore add the spice of their own personalities to their comfortable team performance. They are extremely hard workers who love what they do, and prime examples of the local effort to follow the cycle of seasons for fresh and locally produced foods. I have known them for a year-and-a-half or so, but even as a new guest, my appraisal would have been the same.

“foodies, put this on your must do list when you are on the oregon coast”
Reviewed July 25, 2010

Browsing through the northwest best places book while in the bookstore during a recent trip to the oregon area, I saw this cooking school mixed with dinner party experience and though a-ha. With just a few days before we would be in cannon beach, I called for a reservation and was lucky enough to secure one. It was among the best meals on our trip (indeed among the best this year!) and I got some new ideas that will be put to use soon. The food was lovely and the hosts so accessible. I have already encouraged my friends in Portland to run, not walk, to EVOO!

“Excellent food and good company”
Reviewed June 28, 2010

My husband and I decided to go to EVOO after reading reviews on tripadvisor and checking out the EVOO website. We had a wonderful time! Don't let the "cooking school" descriptor scare you off. The experience was more like watching a good cooking show mixed with a nice dinner party. Bob and Lenore provided excellent tips on cooking from specifics on the recipes they were cooking for us, to food safety and interesting facts on where the food came from. They were kind, amiable and had a great sense of humor. Ok, now for the food. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The flavors in the three courses were from well rounded and complex to a few ingredients for straight forward tasty. The wine pairings were excellent as well, featuring local northwest wines. You can check out their website for the menu they are presenting on the night you go. The setup consisted of seats around the center cooktop and some bar stool tables around the edges of the room. There are mirrors setup around the cooktop for additional views of Chef Bob's actions on the stove. We sat in a bar stool table and had a great view of everything going on. It was also a bit more private than sitting around the cooktop. After sharing the eating the experience, introducing ourselves and sharing some stories, the dinner party atmosphere began. We had people from all over the country at our dinner and it was neat to chit chat with the diverse crowd. (Crowd is relative. There were about 20 people there.) You could easily spend more at dinner in Cannon Beach and not have the quality food, entertaining setting and educational experience offered by EVOO. We had one couple who were on their honeymoon and my husband and I had just celebrated our 10 year anniversary. Lenore jumped on the opportunity to make the night more festive and broke out some candles to put in our awesome desserts. The attendees sang a Happy Celebration song and it just made the experience that much more memorable. If you are interested in an eating adventure, a unique experience or just an excellent dinner out featuring fresh local foods EVOO is a great choice.

“A Must-Visit in Cannon Beach”
Reviewed June 20, 2010

I had been hearing about the EVOO cooking school in Cannon Beach before finally checking it out. Not only did it meet my high expectations, it exceeded them. The food was excellent -- delicious, inventive and original -- and was exceeded in quality only by the presentation: a step-by-step demonstration of how to make the food we were eating. I definitely came out of the dinner having learned a great deal -- more than can be said of other cooking presentations I have attended.

So if you're going to be in Cannon Beach, even for just a night or two, try to schedule the EVOO cooking school.

“Fun evening, great food”
Reviewed December 28, 2009

We attended one of EVOO's skillet dinner events in November and really enjoyed the experience. The food was wonderful, and the meal preparation was very entertaining and we came home with some great new recipes to try. We hope to return sometime in the future. It was a fun evening.
