This is a funky, order at the counter place with a wide selection of well prepared, very fresh fish and seafood items. No white linens here. Just white plastic utensils and white paper or white foam plates and bowls. So the Ritz it ain't, but who wants to have lunch at the Ritz when you're in Cannon Beach anyway. Not I. I'm going back to this place. But not because of the wine list, since there isn't one.

This was a quaint little seafood house in the heart of Cannon Beach. Its casual atmosphere helped provide a leisurely helping of fresh seafood that started with smoked mussels and a nice and hearty cup of clam chowder. The Cod fish and chips were also freshly prepared and complemented with a nice homemade tartar sauce.

The Ecola Seafood Restaurant and Market has a counter where they sell almost any kind of fresh and smoked seafood you can imagine. They also serve fish and chips (made with salmon for me and halibut for the wife) that was so good I wish I had more right now! Fresh and made to order, served with a cold beer...it's the best I've ever had. My only mistake was that I didn't buy some smoked salmon to bring back home to Virginia.

Dropped in for a light lunch and were not disappointed. We both had bowls of clam chowder and shared an order of garlic bread. The chowder is really good--lots of clams in a smooth tasty base, not gluey or sandy like that served in some places. Judging by the amount of shared tastings we observed, other customers seemed to be enjoying the fish and chips and fish tacos.

The fish is fresh, not frozen. Quite tasty. Not much for atmosphere but this is also a store you can purchase seafood in. Located close to public parking.
