“Fairly good food, but too busy and disorganized”
Reviewed December 1, 2007

My husband and I had lunch here on a sunny October Saturday. We had enjoyed lunch here about five years ago, so thought we would again.

First of all, be warned .... they are very, very busy (think absolutely jammed) on weekends and probably all summer. They have a small congested eating area inside, and a few tables outside on the little porch, where we sat. They are right on two street corners, so get a lot of both foot and vehicle traffic flowing by.

They are also not inexpensive. We ordered two halibut and chips, one clam chowder, two shrimp cocktails and two soft drinks, and the tab was about $40. The shrimp cocktails were the only inexpensive menu item we saw, and they are a great bargain!

We did not expect fast service, as they were so busy, but we waited...waited ..... all the while they kept calling off other order numbers, and we waited..... Finally, my husband went to the counter and asked, and the girl looked around and said, "oh, here it is, sorry". Apparently it had gotten "lost" and had been sitting under a heat lamp all this time.

Well, needless to say, the fish and chips probably tasted a *whole* lot better before sitting for 15 minutes! They were still pretty good, thus the 3.0 rating here. But next time, we will be sure to stand right near the counter so we can track our order!

“Great classic seafood shack”
Reviewed November 5, 2007

We ate at Ecola Seafoods last weekend during the Stormy Arts festival. Out family shared razor clams and chips, halibut and chips, clam strips, and clam chowder. It was your basic fried fish stuff, but when done well (and this place does it very well), that's as good as any food on the planet. The razor clams were tender enough to tear apart with your hands, which means they were fresh and cooked perfectly.

Ecola Seafoods obviously moves a lot of fish, so everything we had was fresh. It's very casual and the prices are reasonable (downright cheap for tasty food at cannon beach). It will be a regular stop on my trips to cannon beach from now on.

“Family Friendly”
Reviewed July 28, 2007

I love this little gem. The owner is the fisherman, crabber, and everything is super fresh. They are quite a wonderful family and it is awesome to see their place flourish.
Go buy some fish and chips or get some fresh seafood to go.

“Great Clam Chowder at Ecola!”
Reviewed June 27, 2007

We stopped in at Ecola Seafood Market for a cup of clam chowder while strolling downtown Cannon Beach. Very good chowder and the staff was friendly and informative when we asked about cooking some razor clams we had caught in Seaside.

Aside from the restaurant, there is also a fish market that sells shrimp cocktails, fresh fish and yummy cocktail and tartar sauces that we purchased to take back to our beach cottage in Seaside. Great place for fish lovers! :)

“Great seafood”
Reviewed March 21, 2007

My parents found Ecola Restaurant about 5 years ago, and recommended it highly. Ever since, the whole family enjoys going to Cannon Beach for fish at Ecola. In fact, Cannon Beach is the only beach we go to anymore because a beach trip with out awesome seafood is no fun! We highly recommend this place, it is truly some of the best beach food we have found!
