The Lazy Susan Cafe was once one of the must see restaurants in Cannon Beach. On a typical summer weekend you might see a waiting list of 8-10 parties for a restaurant that has about as many tables.
But about a year ago this quaint cafe changed hands, and it is just no longer up to par. Long-time employee and cook Rosa Alverez took over the helm of the operation and even though the menu has remained virtually unchanged, the quality of food and service have dimmed considerably.
A recent breakfast visit exemplified what I have been seeing since the change in ownership; empty water glasses and coffee cups, not having the correct silverware or condiments for the food that was ordered, burned baked goods, and the sense that we were forgotten when it came time to get the check. You might be able to write this off as a "one-off" but the "before" and "after" comparison since the change of ownership has been glaring. It would appear that many of the regular wait-staff have been replaced (most likely in an attempt to cut costs) by teenage boys that don't seem to have the training, experience, decorum, or attention to service that this cafe once had. It's too bad.
The old Lazy Susan will be missed.
