First some background. We have been coming to Cannon Beach for about 20 years running. We have rented homes and stayed in many different places. We stumbled on the Tolovana a few years ago and it is now one of our favorites. We live about two and a half hours away in the valley. We escape the heat by going to the beach and Cannon Beach is by far our favorite of the all of the beaches on the Oregon coast.

Tolovana Inn is located at the south end of town where things are much quieter. You can get some affordable rates at the very nice place. Indoor, 8-foot deep pool, (it’s salt water by the way) and Hot tub feels great after a day of surfing. They also serve the best coffee in town, sleepy monk.

They provide fire pits on the beach, free wireless and best of all the employees are super helpful. Many of the rooms have been updated and world famous Moe's seafood is right next door.

Enjoy your next stay at the beach and learn what to do if tsunami sirens go off.

The general advice is--run like hell.

We stopped here while driving the Oregon Coast. The staff was very pleasant and the room comfortable. When you do not face the beach the rate goes way down.

Room Tip: Unless you need to see the beach, the rooms that face away are much less expensive

This is an excellent place to stay. The only issue we ever had was when we made our
reservation we were quoted a price for the room. We have stayed in the same room for
about 4 years. The quote we got was for the studio and was suppose to include the
extra bedroom which we have always got in the past years. They were suppose to call us
about the error but never did which resulted in us having to pay an additional 35.00 per
night which we didn't count on. This is the only issue we ever have had in the last
9 years. Again it is an excellent place to stay.

Room Tip: Make your reservation several months in advance. They are always booked up

We usually prefer the less crowded central Oregon Coast, but this time the whole family was coming, so we went for convenience over adventure. Tolovana is right next to Haystack Rock and Cannon Beach, so getting here was easy. Of course, that meant that lots of other folks were on the beach as well - a rare sight on many Oregon beaches. The hotel was perfect for our needs. We rented a two bedroom suite with kitchen, living room, and dining room. It had a king bedroom with it's own bath, a queen bedroom, and a pullout sofa bed. Slept five adults and a toddler just fine. The price was steep, but way better than three rooms anywhere else with the same amenities, including a balcony literally overhanging the beach.

Room Tip: For a good cheap room, go for the mountain view. For a great time no matter what the weather, splurg...

Having traveled a substantial amount in my home state through out my life I have no idea why I hadn't stayed here before. Because my wife and I spontaneously packed and drove away from home we arrived at the Inn without a reservation. The Inn had a very nice Studio room for us. The room was in perfect condition. I have stayed in much more expensive locations with rooms not being nearly this nice. The property sits right on a huge sandy beach (right next to a state day use park). My only issue with the whole facility was the saltwater pool. This type of pool is interesting, but not practical from my point of view. I prefer a fresh water pool. We will return to the inn in the future. Would recommend that you do so also.

We have been to the Tolovana many times for family vacations and usually love the place although parking is always a bit frustrating. This time we got a room that was not as well kept as usual - not sure why? Carpet looked really dirty in places (it was a pet room so I expect a little dirt) and a few things were creaky or broken. For the price of a room, I thought they should have provided movies for free rather than $4 a piece and the only flat screen tv's with good picture were in the bedrooms - not in the living room where we could have all watched the movie! I will say that having Mo's restaurant next door is always a BIG plus! Sure wish Mo's would bring back their breakfasts!!!

Room Tip: The DELUXE suites are well worth the extra money over a standard suite in my opinion!

The location on the beach cannot be beat. But to have a room facing the water will cost you. We opted for a cheaper room with no view, and just walked out to the water. The pool is largely unchanged since I was a kid in the 70s. Lots of families here, which can get noisy at night. Prefer coming here in winter when it is more isolated.
