The Ocean Lodge is a friendly, cozy, warm place to stay in Cannon Beach. The room was clean and comfortable. Having a balcony that looked out onto the ocean with a view of Haystack rock was just amazing. We actually ordered pizza in one night and opened a bottle of wine and sat out on the balcony. That was one of the highlights of our vacation! It was great to have a fireplace in the room also. Although, we usually slept with our balcony slider open a bit to be able to hear the ocean.
Breakfast at the lodge is plentiful with coffee, juice, pastries, yogurt, etc. There is also a 'bottomless' cookie jar in the lobby.
The only thing that would make the lodge better is room service. There were nights where after a long day of hiking, it would have been nice to be able to order room service and relax in the room.
I would absolutely return to The Ocean Lodge anytime!!

We have been staying here since it first opened. The people are warm and friendly and accomodating. The room we stayed in was ample for our family and our deck looked out onto the beach and Haystack Rock.

While it is comparable in price to other beach front properties, having breakfast included helps ease the wallet. My only request, which I shared with management, would be to have fewer pastries and a bit more protein. There are hard boiled eggs, but perhaps some cheeses and ham would be welcomed.

Overall, this place and these folks will keep us coming back.

We traveled Oregon for ten days and nights and the third stop on our adventure was The Ocean Lodge. We had settled on the Bungalow rather than the beach front room when the cost was substantially different and it was realized that a) the bungalow had a tub and b) one couldn't really see the ocean from the first floor which is dog friendly. Our decision was PERFECT. Check in was a snap, we were welcomed, informed of where breakfast is served in the lodge and shown where tea and cookies were 24/7! The lodge itself is gorgeous.
Though we travel with a 100lb Lab, we want clean and fresh smelling. At The Ocean Lodge, that is what we received. Our bungalow was well furnished with a huge bathroom, wonderful bed, nice seating, fire place, small kitchenette with the necessary dishes. There was a welcome basket for our dog with treats and his own towel and sheet for the bed (we come with his bed and a sheet but I am sure most don't)! The balcony was large with nice seating for both us and room for the dog's bed! A nice way to relax.
We chose correctly with the bungalow as the beach was just steps away and we would not have been able to see it on the first floor ocean view rooms any way! And...the bungalow had a great tub. Usually we don't think much of the hotel's tubs as ours is a corner jacuzzi tub at home, but the bungalow's tub rivaled ours. What a relaxing treat while on a road trip. The amenities were all there; nice towels, linens, large flat screen TV, wine glasses and coffee and creams. The room is like your own studio and just as homey!
The beach itself is pristine. Our dog romped in the surf, I flew my kite, we walked the short distance to Haystack, then back to the room for a wonderful night of sleep!
I do wish that the hotel had a restaurant in the lounge area or at least offered wine or beverages. It just seems like they should. SO be certain if you plan to watch the sunset from your balcony to bring your own. The bungalows are great because they offer great space, and there is no one above your below you....and the tub!
It's worth every penny. The best hotel on the Oregon coast!

Room Tip: First floor beach front has no real view. Bring your own libations and use the refrigerator in the...

Stayed here for two nights in late May in an Ocean Front Queen Suite. While we were initially disappointed that the room wasn't on the ground level and therefore with direct access to the beach, in hindsight, it was better. Being elevated meant we could look down and out at the beach and just to the right was an incredible view of the Needles and Haystack Rock. The ground floor rooms actually had a grassed area in front which rose in height and completely blocked their view of the beach. So if you are staying in the lodge (as opposed to one of their apartments) ask to stay in an upstairs room so you get the view.

Receptionist on check-in was lovely as were all the staff. She was very helpful with suggestions for dinner. They have a file with every menu of every eatery in the town. They also have a great selection of dvds (free of charge!). There is coffee and cookies available all day, just help yourself!

Our room was very nice. A queen bed in the bedroom and the living room/kitchen had a queen sleeper (which was hands down the most comfortable sofa bed I've ever been on). There was a balcony as well. The bathroom was the only disappointing thing. While the shower itself was quite large, the toilet was also in the "bathroom" and you had to step to the side of the toilet to close the door. The basin was outside the "bathroom". There is something about setting up the "bathroom" like this that puts me off. To me it just says "cheap motel" even though the fittings etc were very nice. I like my basin in my bathroom not outside. However, that aside, it was a lovely suite. An a shower cap was provided (bonus points) and strangely enough a facial cleanser and facial moisturiser (never seen that before!). A few more hooks on the backs of doors would be useful to hang wet towels.

The hotel very kindly provided us with champagne flutes (which apparently they don't normally do - you are meant to buy them as a souvenir!) and this was very much appreciated. Who wants to be carrying around champagne flutes when you are on a road trip!

There is a lovely breakfast included in the room price. And I noticed that there was cake in the breakfast room in the afternoon and you could help yourself to it for a nice afternoon tea.

There was also a nice turn-down service every evening. They made up the sofa bed each night as well as the queen bed and left chocolates for us.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel. While quite expensive for what you get, you are obviously paying for the view and location. Still I would be happy to stay here again

We had a lovely 4 days at Cannon Beach - The Ocean Lodge! The rooms, staff, ambiance was absolutely terrific! We had a pet room and it was top-notch clean. Our two French Bulldogs loved being at the beach and so did we! We just had to step out on to our porch and we were steps away from the beach! It was the best time and best vacation. Everything was perfect and we had a great time! If you have fur babies this is the hotel to stay at! They love animals and we were so happy that they did! I want to go back so bad and hopefully we will in the future. The Ocean Lodge is outstanding! We loved them dearly! Thank you Ocean Lodge!

Our family of 4 and 2 small dogs booked one of their pet friendly studios and had a blast. It is like having your own little house. The property is fairly new and in great shape. We enjoyed going to the lodge lobby each morning for the breakfast and coffee and reading the collection of Old "Life Magazines" by the fire place. The beach is probably about 25 to 50 yards away. We went for New Years and had fun even though it was in the 30's and 40's. The pet friendly studios book get filled so book early.

We recently spent 2 nights at this resort having telephoned with no advance reservations. We spoke to Melody who set the tone for our stay. Quoting the rate and offering us a tour of the room to decide, we immediately drove to meet her. The room, as she described offering a "partial oceanview" turned out to be a perfect location and layout, at a very reasonable rate. We took the room immediately. A gas fireplace, along with a small "kitchette" area including a frig and microwave and an outside porch with 2 chairs facing the beach was a perfect location. The gourmet coffee service with cookies around the clock was a nice perk on a cool, damp Oregon evening. We simply relaxed and enjoyed the geography of beautiful coastal Oregon and the village town of Cannon Beach for 3 days after flying from our home in Florida. Every staff member we encountered were professional and very personable, and a special Thanks to Melody again for her service and hospitality.
The as advertised "limited" Continental Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment. The first morning we arrived in the breakfast area to a very crowded room with no vacant chairs or tables and discovered a limited menu of breads, cereals, yogurt, some fruit and pastries including an odd breakfast item....apple pie. We ended up leaving the hotel due to the seating issue, but ate a few items in the breakfast area the next morning. One suggestion....when staff are conducting a business meeting at 9AM they should not occupy much-needed table and chair space from their guests in this breakfast area or talk to kitchen staff about doing some task. Trying to balance a plate and cup of coffee in your lap is not appreciated when you observe a member of staff "holding court" at a table conducting business during peak breakfast times.
Overall however, a beautiful and cozy warm resort property that we would not hesitate to visit again. As we did, we'll just eat somewhere else.

Room Tip: Inquire specifically what type of view the room offers. You will be disappointed in a parking lot v...
