We stayed on the bottom level of the hotel. The sliding doors opened on the beach side, which was across the street beyond the parking lot. Very easy walk to the beach. The room was clean and had a kitchenette, which is nice if you want to save a little $ on food. The kids enjoyed the pool and the hot tub when we weren't at the beach. The hotel also has a locker outside with chairs, sand toys and blankets you can borrow. The drive to town is very pretty and it only takes 10 minutes. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Found this place at the quiet end of town whilst trying to escape the downtown crowds. Spacious suite with fireplace, leather lounge, dining nook and kitchenette allowed us to spread out a bit. We ordered pizza delivered and got some breakfast from the bakery across the street. Only a short walk along the beach, which is across the road, to Haystack Rock and a couple of adjoining dining options make this a pleasant stay in the quiet part of town.

Room Tip: Higher floor for ocean views

I stayed in a double queen suite (Room 304) with my mother, sister, and our three small children. We had a great visit. Staff are friendly/attentive and the rooms were clean and attractive. We had a well-equipped kitchen/living room, walk-out balcony, bedroom and two bathrooms. The balcony looks out over a large parking lot across the street, with the ocean just on the other side. We didn't mind the short drive from downtown, as it gave us several chances to explore Cannon Beach by car and to see Haystack Rock up close from the road. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach and the sand toys, towels, and wagon provided by the hotel. The indoor pool and hot tub were clean and inviting. There is salt water taffy, coffee and other treats in the lobby. I believe the hotel Website warned that the pullout bed in the living room is not recommended for adults -- I would agree, as the mattress is very thin. The beds, however, were comfortable. I would stay here again. I wish the price was lower (we paid nearly $300), but it was better for us than getting two rooms at a "less nice" place.

We stayed 1 night at The Wayside and had a great experience, as did our 2 dogs. The room we ended up getting (queen studio) was a bit tight for 2 adults and 2 dogs, but everything else about our stay was great. The room was clean & well-appointed, and had a great location across from the beach and Mo's restaurant. Our dogs appreciated the welcome baskets : ) Would definitely go back!

Room Tip: If bringing dogs, opt for a suite - studio rooms feel too cramped

We stayed at the Wayside Inn for a long weekend with our kids and grandchildren, and grand dogs...it was a perfect place for us. Besides the great rooms with a little kitchenette to fix some basic food, the dogs were treated like royalty and had a good spot for being walked. They loan out wagons for trips across the street to the beach which was perfect to get all our things down there. The staff (Jill and Carol, especially) were so friendly and helpful...we will definitely return there again and highly recommend it!!!

Room Tip: Rooms with the kind (1 bed) have more living space than the ones with 2 queens.

We recently visited Cannon Beach and stayed at the Wayside with our two small dogs. When we came into the room, they had baskets waiting for them with their own dishes, towels, linens and bones! I was really impressed. They had a write-up on their rules for dog owners, which were very reasonable and it was so well written that it really showed how much they cared about pets and "their people". We had a great time and the Wayside was a great place for us to stay. My only concern about going there in the heat of the summer is that they don't have air conditioning. Most of the time at the Oregon Coast you don't need it because there is always a breeze and the temps drop at night but there could be a day or two that could get "sticky" if you needed it and didn't have it. The office staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. We will return.
