“Room with a view”
Reviewed April 12, 2012

We enjoyed our visit to Cannon Beach and our stay at The Wayside Inn. The room was a spacious choice with a nice balcony view of the Pacific looking through Tolovana Park. The mini-kitchen provided us with everything we needed. The furnishings are very simple and the only amenities are vending machines, but the staff is friendly and helpful. We ate dinner twice at Mo's Seafood which is a short walk across the street toward the beach. For a longer walk, we did the three-mile beach roundtrip to Haystack Rock. If serenity is your gig, you'll like this place a lot. The only drawback is no elevator, which can be a chore if you have heavy luggage and have to walk up the stairs.

Very clean, comfortable, practical and quiet. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. He was quick to fix the tv cables when I had a problem with it.

Room Tip: Stayed in the 2nd Floor, a corner room...fantastic!

We had a nice weekend at the Wayside Inn! Just a short walk to the beach, on the more secluded side of cannon beach. The two bedroom suite was cozy and comfortable. It had two different balconies with an ocean view to use off a bedroom and the living room. Our daughter loved the pool which is kept nice and warm.

Our only complaint is the second bedroom doesn't have a doorknob on the inside so we couldn't shut our door all the way at night. And it wouldn't shut from the outside either, we had someone prop a bag outside the door after we went to bed for the night so the door would be completely closed. Kind of strange. But other than that we had a great experience.

The Wayside Inn was a pick on the internet after looking at numerous places to stay at Cannon Beach. It turned out to be the best place. Stayed in a 2 bedroom suite with full kitchen, dining area and living room. But the best were the beds - I've stayed in hotels all over and nothing has compared to these soft warm wonderful beds - a king in one room and a queen size in the other, Both bedrooms had sliding doors that opened onto little seating areas with an ocean view. Short walk to the wonderful beach! Brought way too much stuff as usual. There is a little bakery within walking distance - try the scones or shortbread cookies or the cheese biscuits. Oh yes - almost forgot we were able to bring our golden retriever and he even got a welcome basket. Staff are great - well I could go on and on, love it, try it you will too,

Room Tip: Kitchens have dishes, pots and frying pans, silverware, utensils, measuring cups, carving knives and...

I should start off with the fact that this hotel is not beach front but instead there is a state park parking lot seperating the hotel from the beach. This isn't necessarily a reason not to stay but I'd say that if you want the maximum value and scenic view then I'd stay on the top floor (there are three floors to the hotel).
The front desk staff is very nice and willing to accomidate special requests when they can. The night we stayed we booked our room due to the fireplace and wanting to just relax. Our fireplace ended up not working and there were no other rooms we could be moved to. The gentleman working the desk came to our room to try and help and when it couldn't be fixed he was nice enough to give us a credit towards our stay since it couldn't be fixed.
If you are taking your dog they give you a great basket with bowls to use and sheets to cover the beds and a few dog treats and doggie bags.
It's a quick walk across the parking lot to the beach and I can't wait to go back again.

Room Tip: If you want the maximum ocean view then stay on the 3rd floor.

This is a great dog friendly place to stay. The rooms are very clean and the people very friendly. It is right across from the Tolovana State Park with a great ocean view. Great shower with abundant. My only grip was with the people in the room next door. We were already asleep when they arrived and a herd of elephants would have been quieter. Mind you I sleep with earplugs in and they still woke me up. I recommend trying the Wayside.

Room Tip: Best views from 3rd floor.

great location, good price, friendly staff---pet friendly, even got his own bowl and towels.
unfortunately the small hallway by our 1st floor suite created a noisey wind tunnel effect. I would go back but probably to a different room.
