We asked several locals if we should go to Ecola or Oswald for a hike. All of them said Oswald. The hike to Cape Falcon was recommended by a guide at the visitor center in Cannon Beach. We did the 2 1/2 mile hike (each way) and were not disappointed. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. This is not a very strenuous hike and can be completed in 3 hours or less. The trail starts at the Cape Falcon parking lot. This lot is the most northern mlot in Oswald park. It is on the right side of 101 when you are heading south.

A short hike to the beautiful beach where artists and surfers hang out. A wonderful place to picnic and enjoy nature at it's best.

We had a great time discovering this park. The walk from the parking area was beautiful with huge trees and ferns everywhere with a cool suspension walking bridge (bouncy) and nice paths. The entry point from the trail we followed was a bit awkward to get onto the beach because there were huge trees that wer had to climb over, but we didn't mind. We made sure to come at low tide so that we could explore the tidal pools. There were several families and surfers on the beach. On the north end of the bay is a small waterfall and tons of tidal pools with sea stars and anemones and rocks covered with barnacles. If you check these out, be very careful where you step as these guys are everywhere, and you want to be sure not to crush them. Very cool park!

This is a nice beach with lots of surfers and people having a good time on the day we visited It is slightly protected from the wind and is of medium size. Be careful where you step, when the tide is out there are a lot of critters in the tidal pools. The bathrooms where clean and well placed. The trail to the beach was very pretty and it looks like there a good trails to explore.

I came here years ago when there was an overnight camp ground. I have so many happy memories of taking our gear down to the beach in the provided wheelbarrows. Now it is day use only but still a very unique experience. The trails leading down to the beach are well maintained and not difficult. Once you break out of the deep woods you see the most delightful beach area.

We just got back from Labor Day weekend and the place was packed with surfers and families with dogs. Even though there was heavy use both in the surf and on the sand it was a very respectful mellow group of people who were tolerant of all the activities going on around them.

It was easy to throw down a blanket and a chair and sit back and watch beach play at it finest.
