“Hidden gem”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

One guide book said that this is one of the best kept secrets. There is access to the beach but there are also hiking trails. We (2 parents and a teenage daughter) e not hikers ourselves--but a friend had us walk the Cape Falcon trail. A little steep here and there and muddy in different places, but it paid off at the end with a wonderful mountain-top like view of the beach and surroundings. If you go, dress with proper clothes and shoes--we know since we weren't properly dressed. It's a 5 mile hike round trip.

“love the walk down!”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

The path down is what makes this beach notable! Besides getting a taste of the rain forest (we saw a cool snake) you get to walk on a suspension bridge across a creek.

“the best little surf spot around”
Reviewed July 7, 2012

Oswald West SP is the place to go if you want to catch a wave, but even more, it offers a great trail system and a nice walk to the beach through the forest. Be sure to get there early as this place is uber popular and the parking lots fill up fast!
There are picnic tables up off the beach and if you like waterfalls, there is a really cool one on the North side of the beach.

“Awesome views”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

Oswald West was a governor of Oregon who had the foresight to set aside all of the Oregon coast as public lands so everyone could enjoy them in the future. This park named in his honor, has several turn-outs along Hwy. 101 with spectacular views of the coast.
