“Two caves, no waiting...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2013

During low tide -- you must check the tide tables before going -- you can walk into two dark caves (take a flashlight) for a fun adventure. Watch the many small rocks (flip-flops are not good) getting to and going in these rather spooky places. Along the beach you'll also see a waterfall (again, flip-flops are not good for climbing up to the top of same) and the remains of the original coastal roadway chiseled out of rock faces. This used to be the only way to travel up and down the coast via horse & buggy and car. This beach is great for picnics and evening bonfires, but don't get caught...check those tide tables.

“Nice beach, adequate parking”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

This was not a quiet place on a July Monday afternoon. Many people wanted to enjoy this beach. It is big enough to keep it from feeling too crowded. If you have wheels and want to get away from the Cannon Beach crowd scene this is a good place to go. This beach does have an interesting history as part of the state highway system. There is a popular photo from the last century or earlier showing a wagon being dragged over the point.

Visit at low tide (or, at least, when the tide is well out) and you can explore caves; see sea stars, anemones, mussels and barnacles; visit a waterfall that dumps right on the beach; walk an old wagon trail carved into the bluff ( the beach was once the coast "highway"); and, of course, walk along the beach or venture into the water.

“wow!”

We loved this park! It was beautiful, and has a history to it that is quite interesting. This park exemplifies Oregon's variety of topography in a small area: beautiful woods, cliffs, caves, waterfalls, beach, ocean, all in one place. Go at low tide….

“Beautiful coastline and hidden waterfall at Hug Point State Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 8, 2013

This was one of my favorites. Must visit during low tide as if you walk to the right side (north end) of this beach and around the cliff you find another cute little beach with a little waterfall. Fun or romantic, whichever you prefer. No fee for this state park.
