“A great stop!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

This was another great stop on our Oregon Coast Journey. We spent about an hour walking around the beach and the rock. It is very touristy but there are lots of options for good photos.

“Beautiful but very popular town, coastline & beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2012

The beach at Haystack Rock is wide and clean but there is a "crowded" feeling here as far as Oregon Coast beaches go. Cannon Beach is quite a touristy area with shops, hotels and restaurants right off the beach. Definitely worth the stop for a lengthy walk at the seashore. Birds galore. Low tide is best if you want to go tide pooling.

“Iconic landmark”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

This iconic landmark is the object of postcards, coffee books, and calendars. It is one of the largest monolithic rocks in the world, now a sea life sanctuary. Unfortunately, it does tend to draw crowds. Parking is difficult close by, and dining options aren't great. As for tidal pooling, there are better tidal pooling areas in the state parks within a short driving distance. Yes, you can see much sea life here, but you tend to peer over the shoulders of a few other people. It is a good spot for a memorable photo if you come early in the morning or late in the evening. The beach is wide and clean, and you can ride sand bicycles or play frisbees. It seems to be popular with dogs too.

“Landmark on the North Coast.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 30, 2012

Haystack Rock is one of the most photographed spots on the Oregon Coast. Visible from the decks of many of Cannon Beach's hotels, "The Rock" is beautiful from many vantage points and under a variety of lighting situations. At low tide, there are many tide pools to be explored (just look - don't take the sea life away from the pools). You can't help but see Haystack if you stay or eat anywhere on the beachfront.
