“Loved it here”

We booked a Double Captains room on the first floor for 2 nights. The location was perfect, and the back door opening right on the beach was fantastic. We loved to close proximity to stores and restaurants. We enjoyed the hot tub on a chilly (summer!) day.

Our only complaint was the weather, but obviously not the hotel's fault. Would love to come back when it was not drizzly and in the 60s in July. :)

Keep in mind no a/c. Was not too much of a problem. Just a tad stuffy in the rooms at night. We were okay in our room with the ceiling fan, but the boys were in the main room and a fan in there would have made a huge difference.

Upon arrival we were nine minutes early for the 4 PM check-in time...and were made to wait until exactly 4 PM. While this is fair (as it is clearly stated), it seemed odd to have to wait nine minutes because the room "wasn't quite ready yet."

Our room was a second floor Super Sloop with two queen beds and a kitchenette. We began to unload our things and discovered that the cabinet door under the sink was broken. I'm not sure how this could have been missed as it prevented another drawer and cabinet door from functioning. This was fixed the following morning.

On the second day the lock on our door stopped working. We ended up being locked out of our room for approximately 15 minutes.

On Sunday, after the room was tidied up, I came back into the bathroom to find gloves left on my toothbrush.

Another odd item was the screen door on the deck was installed backwards - the handle was facing the wrong direction - so it was more difficult than necessary to open.

As for the good of this hotel, the kitchenette had the basics and this made meal prep convenient. The actual property and room was quite clean and having the beach literally on the door step was delightful. The hose to wash off the sand was great and got a lot of use. The beds were quite comfy and were a welcome sight after running around the beach all day.

Despite the mishaps while at the hotel, the staff did make an effort to resolve these issues as soon as they could. A broken cabinet door on arrival is preventable. Electronic doors that stop working just happen sometimes and I understand that. Gloves on my tooth brush...that's not my favorite.

The location is fantastic, but the actual experience was not my favorite. It is quite possible that if we had been in another room, we would have had a very different experience.

Our family had a room with an ocean view, beach access, 2 beds and one hide-a-bed. The kitchenette was also a nice feature for families (it included: a small dorm-room sized refrigerator; microwave, stove-top, toaster, coffee maker, and various dishes/utensils; along with paper towels, dish soap). Bathroom also featured shampoo, conditioner, and body wash/shower gel dispensers in the shower/tub. We could walk right out of our room onto a grassy area with picnic tables, grills (w/propane), and lounge & beach chairs; not to mention the easy beach access and beautiful view of the beach/ocean. I tried to talk myself out of this place because I wanted something "cheaper" but it was well worth the price considering all the benefits of the location, the extras included in the room, and the close walking proximity to a store, restaurants, and all the cute tourist shops.

Room Tip: Spend extra for the ocean-front access rooms, you won't be sorry.

This hotel is a great choice for a less expensive beach front room. The rooms seemed newly renovated and very clean. Very short walk to Haystack Rock down the beach. We were given a first floor room, I wish I had requested the second floor. The patio for our room was open to the neighbor's patio, so there was very little privacy. Would have liked to keep the patio door open to listen to the ocean all night, but the screen door didn't have a lock so I didn't feel safe keeping the patio door unlocked, as it seemed anyone could have walked up from the beach and entered our room.

We were very happy with the location and although there was a snag with our room and reservation the assistant manager was such a doll and gave us several options to correct the dilemma. Great customer service was such a pleasant surprise when most of the town had a bit of a pretentious attitude. Thank you Cara. We will be back.

We rented a double room for 3 nights. We were very pleased with the hotel. It was reasonably priced, great location, and had great access to the beach. We liked that it had a separate bedroom, small kitchen and gas grills outside for guests to use? In the double room they replace the couch in the living area with a bed so the living room is cramped. A sleeper sofa would have been a better option. The room was recently updated and very clean. I would stay there again.

We rented two rooms to accommodate children and grandchildren for two nights. Nothing could have been more perfect. Normally, my husband and I stay at Schooner's a night or two during the winter months. Our stay this June was so perfect, we've booked ahead a year but the same two rooms for three nights. All the staff are first class as well.

Room Tip: Ground floors are easier to carry luggage.
