I found the resort through a dog friendly website after looking at several other places to stay within the area. We have two basset hounds that must go with us on all our trips. I stayed for 5 days/4 nights on July 20 to 24 with our dogs. I paid $130.00 per night plus a $10.00 pet fee. It was worth every penny.
I stayed in cabin B-11 and was very impressed with it. It was home away from home but better. It had everything I needed in the kitchen. The working gas barbecue grill was a plus .The hot tub on the deck was very private and clean. The deck was very large with a gate so the dogs were able to be outside without their leash.
The cabin had a living area with very comfortable couch, 3 individual sofa-like chairs, television and VHS/DVD player. The television was on top of a fireplace. There was a dining area with a table and 4 chairs; a small kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster; a bathroom; a bedroom with queen size bed and television; and a loft with two twin size beds. There was ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room. The cabin had an on-demand water heater so we never had to worry about running out of hot water when we showered. The kitchen area had laminated flooring.
The seasonal creek at the back of the cabin was dry as I had expected but the forest scenery was very peaceful. There is another creek with plenty of water flowing within a few hundred feet downhill from the cabin-where the tunnel is accessible to get to the beach. Other than the tunnel, the beach is also walking distance from the cabin-if only you do not mind the uphill and downhill. My suggestion is that if you are staying for more than a day, you must try the tunnel first, next drive to the beach, then walking.
The restaurant has an amazing view of the beach. You must dine there at least once.
The mini-store is also very convenient if you don't want to drive 10-15 minutes to town. It had lots of beverages, several choices of chips, ice cream, soup & other various grocery items.
I loved the place but I think my dogs loved it better. They were able to roam leash-free at the beautiful Whaleshead Beach. The weather was perfect during our 5 days/4 nights stay. Only one day was misty in the morning-but what a beautiful scene it was to look through the cabin window from the living room. It was an absolutely relaxing and quite place to stay.
