Been to Brookings three times. Our motel referred us here the first time and we've been back each visit. Main eating area is in the basement of an art gallery. If you enter through the main door on Hwy 101, you might think it's deserted, but if you wander to the back and down the stairs you come into the restaurant. Mains are very good to excellent. Soups and salads and deserts have been average to good. Service, as noted before, is good but very causal, diner-like almost. Prices seemed quite reasonable to us. you need a reservation during kite weekend.

Okay, but no cigar. Small seating area. Loud. We've not been back since our last visit. Decent wine selection. All in all, not worth the money. My wife and I live here and we probably won't return.

We went there on a Saturday night without a reservation and thankfully they were able to accomodate us. We had the surf & turf and the stuffed shrimp. The entrees included chicken noodle soup, salad and warm bread. The steak and vegetables were perfectly cooked.
I would suggest skipping the soup and the bread seemed to have been warmed in the microwave (judging by the consistency). However, the homemade blue cheese vinaigrette was very good.
The service was ok and the prices were reasonable for the amount of food. We felt the service was a little too casual though for the high end aspirations that the restaurant is trying to project.
It seems to be geared to a more mature crowd.

Nice atmosphere, good music, well paced service, chilled white wine glasses, perfectly cooked and sauced wild salmon, huge, tender steak, friendly people and an overall unexpected, great dining experience.
