“Quiet, comfortable, charming, and convenient”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2013

This is the best kind of B&B - the kind where you can stay in a small cottage close to the main house. Our cottage was charming and extremely comfortable (great water pressure in the shower!), with a cushioned window seat, skylights, and terrific privacy. It felt like camping, but without the discomfort. The main house has loads of antiques as well as photos and books giving you some of the history of the area. The owner-operators are quite friendly and helpful, and will accommodate your gluten-free and vegetarian needs for breakfast. Best of all are the animals you see around the place... a few chickens and turkeys, two dogs (one old and the other a pup), and a couple of cute, curious alpacas. The Lodge is very close to Multnomah Falls and the Multnomah Falls Lodge, where we had dinner, and it is just across the road from Bridal Veil Falls park. The Lodge is right on the road, so it's convenient and easy to find, but it really feels like a quiet, cozy retreat. Lovely place.

We had a lovely stay in the main house here: very friendly owners, and all sorts of fun books and knick-knacks in the house that evoked a 1920s atmosphere. It's also in a great location--convenient for seeing all the waterfalls along the Columbia River.

We are no strangers to "rustic" inns, so we were eager for a nice authentic Columbia Gorge stay. However, the dirty dishes in the kitchen, the mildew smell and the less-than-clean coffee/tea supplies in the room really put us off. The owners didn't give us much information when we arrived (they just escorted us to the cottage and left), but they were way too friendly during breakfast, dominating the conversation. They never asked if I would prefer something else to drink (I drink decaf coffee) - so I just sat there with an empty cup while they talked about themselves. Our whole stay was very disappointing, especially when we expected it to be one of the highlights of the trip. My only compliment would be the skylights in the cottage - very pretty.

The lodge is in a great location right off the historic old highway, close to the Oneonta Gorge and the Multnomah Falls, perfect for exploring the area. We stayed in one of the two cottages which were lovely and peaceful. We especially loved the big skylight and waking up to looking out at the forest. The hosts were very friendly and knowledgeable and told us great stories of the history of the lodge and the families that lived there as well as good tips on where to go in the area. The healthy home-made breakfast was good.

The Bridal Veil Lodge is a really nice find in the falls area on the old Columbia River Highway near the Columbia River in northern Oregon. The rooms were old, because the property is old. But the room that we stayed in - the Upper Cottage - was quite accommodating. We loved staying here. The breakfast was great and our hosts were very knowledgeable about the history of the Inn and were glad to share that with their guests. We definitely recommend a stop here on your trip to the Columbia River area. And enjoy the falls as well.

My husband and I have stayed there a couple of times and loved it! We stayed in the upper cottage the first time and enjoyed listening to the rain on the skylight. The last time we stayed in the East Room, a lovely appointed room with huge, comfortable bed and small, but adequate and clean bathroom. Breakfast was good and enjoyed the company of the innkeepers and other guests. Enjoyed looking at all the antiques. Fabulous, fabulous location. Beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails. We'll be back.

Room Tip: Cottages are rustic - give you a feel of living deep in the woods. Rooms in the lodge are beautiful...
