A must see stop for all visitors to the Portland area. As locals we stop at least once a year to walk up to the viewpoint bridge and always take a long gaze as we drive by other times.

Never gets old. Worth the stop if you're passing by on 84 (a good ice cream break, too), and a great day trip if you want a hike and some great pictures. Take the old highway and stop at several falls along the way. Beautiful in all seasons.

One of the blessings of living in the Portland/Vancouver/Hood River areas is ... this beautiful gorge area. Every season brings its own beauty and adventure. One can visit the many falls or hike user friendly, as well as challenging, trails. The summer offers many picnic and camping spots. Hot Spring resorts dot the Washington side as well. Kids love the fish hatcheries and the dams. The wind surfers are both fun and picturesque to watch. A Sternwheeler paddle boat ferries passengers along the Columbia River in many areas. Larch Mountain offers the best view of both northern and southern Cascade Mountains. Much of the area is free ... except for a tank of gas and a sack lunch !

We had our Christmas dinner here a year ago. It was okay.... It was dark so we had no view...
