“Love this bakery!”

Stopped in on our way back to California. So glad we did. The chocolate croissant was delicious. The quiche was mouthwatering and the smoked salt bagel..oh my! I'll definitely make this stop again!

“Delicious but slow”
Reviewed August 9, 2014 via mobile

This a small bakery, and it took about 20 minutes to get a sandwich made to go at noon one day, with only one or two people ahead of me, so maybe they are understaffed. Being I don't like lines and waiting, I prefer buying bread from them at the NW Crossings Farmer's Market on Saturdays and make my own sandwiches at home.

“Fun food with great bakers”
Reviewed July 31, 2014

Found this bakery in what looked like an old industrial area, but on closer inspection there's a nice outdoor patio where on one of the many sunny central Oregon mornings you can find some dyed in the wool foodies enjoying their morning fix. The first morning I had an ocean roll. Looks like a croissant based cinnamon roll, but no cinnamon, lightly sweet gooey interior with a mild cardamom which mellows out the sweetness. Well done, their signature dish. The second day I had a croissant. It was fresh, very buttery without putting anything on it. Nice and fluffy and flakey especially at the ends. Good Choice. The chocolate bouchon is like a cross between a muffn and a chocolate brownie. It creates a lasting happiness in your mouth for a long long time.

“The Bomb”
Reviewed July 28, 2014

We got their pastry at a coffee shop, and my husband liked it so much, when the coffee shop ran out of his favorite, we tracked down the bakery itself. He swears by the "Ocean," a light, croissant-type pastry with very subtle flavors...cardamom, perhaps? I had a very flakey chocolate croissant, which wasn't stuffed with chocolate as some are, but whose pastry was very, very good. If you're a chocoholic you'll be disappointed, but not if you're a pastry buff.

“I want a Sparrow Bakery in my town.”
Reviewed July 26, 2014

Forget any other breakfast option in Bend. Hie thee to the Sparrow Bakery. Feast your eyes on the bakery case, and on all the goodness on top of the bakery case, and then, if you can peel your eyes away, peruse a menu. If you have a sweet tooth, the bakery case is the way to go. Savory hankerings? Get the poached egg, bacon, avocado, and arugula sandwich on a croissant and don't share any of it, no matter how much you are in love. Then come back the next day and have another, and cry because you're only in Bend for two days in vacation. Your latte can be prepared with vanilla or cardamom if you wish, and both are exquisite. The best coffee I had in Oregon, or, in fact, possibly ever, since it was perfectly smooth and was missing the burned, bitter notes you usually get. Enjoy the lovely patio. Whatever you do, don't miss this place.
