We visit Sparrow whenever we're visiting family in Bend, mostly for the Ocean Rolls. Our niece began gnawing on them as soon as she could handle solid food, and now, at three, you might lose a finger if you try to take one away from her. I totally understand the feeling. In addition to those twists if perfection, every product we've tried has been extremely well-made. The miche is nuty with a chewy interior. It's dense but at the same time, with a good, airy interior and perfect crumb. The lemon meringue cake is tart and sweet in the right proportion, and is gorgeous. Caneles are moist andcustardy on the inside without being mushy. The quiche is deep and light, not overly custardy-tasting and the crust melts in your mouth. All the puff-pastry breakfast items are crackly and buttery and perfect.
