“Lovely spot!”
Reviewed September 15, 2013

It would be easy to miss this charming little bakery in a semi-industrial neighborhood if it wasn't for the line out the door. Drive around back to park and grab a spot in line as you contemplate the heavenly aromas wafting out the front door. Don't miss the incomparable ocean roll, a slice of incredibly moist banana walnut bread and a housemade chai latte. The patio is a lovely spot to enjoy your goodies and comes complete with a fireplace.

“Best Breakfast in Bend”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

During my week-long trip to Bend, I had breakfast at Sparrow Bakery 4 times! Yes, it was that good, even in a town full of "breakfast options." I normally don't eat gluten and pastries, but as I was on vacation, I opted to try what everyone was raving about...the Ocean Roll (the circular one with the croissant pastry dough and cardamon flavor for which they are "famous!) Sooo worth the calories...and the post-wheat belly! On subsequent visits, the Bacon Breakfast sandwich was delightful, and the Monte Christo Sandwich had copious roasted turkey and thick, miche bread that fueled me through my all-day hike. Their basic coffee, prepared with a french press, is from Thump Coffee in Bend and is excellent. There is some nice outdoor seating as well as a few tables indoors. All the staff at Sparrow are super friendly and helpful. It was packed every morning I visited, but was well worth the wait! Afterwards, make sure to visit the artisans on the other side of the courtyard in the Workhouse! Sparrow Bakery (and the Workhouse) are part of this revamped warehouse complex about 3 minutes from downtown Bend.

“Good, if pricey”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

The bread was fresh, the service was good if slow, but then again, this place was crowded, so maybe the slowness can be excused. They had outdoor seating (probably because it was summer), and the surroundings look decent. Being a vegetarian, I didn't really have much choice for breakfast, so I went for a plain bagel loaded with cream cheese and washed it down with coffee. The bagel was fresh, and there was a good helping of cream cheese plastered on the bagel, so it was all good.

P.S.: They let you bring pets, but they have to wait outside.

“Less is more”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

Not downtown, but in a rehabbed warehouse complex done well. Pretty tiny and I suspect gets crowded at times. Pretty darn tasty pastries and good coffee. Other menu items like breads and sandwiches look potentially good.

The Bacon Breakfast sandwich was incredible! Great little spot with some outdoor seating. Heading back in now for a chocolate macaroon.
