The glowing remarks everyone gives Anne Goldner and Hillside Inn B&B are true--I discovered this for the first time in 2008 when I stayed in the Balcony Room on business. This month I returned again on business, this time with husband and dog, when we needed a place to restore ourselves on the way home from a long road trip and less than stellar hotels. I wanted to show my husband that my business trips aren't all trudge, especially when I can stay at places like the Hillside Inn! The Studio Suite offered everything we could have wanted, and we enjoyed our conversation with Annie the next morning every bit as much as her stellar breakfast, which she tailored to our tastes by planning the menu with us the previous night. We were dazzled by a fresh fruit parfait with Champagne grapes, sauteed vegetables and prosciutto over a bed of polenta, toast with strawberry jam and pumpkin butter, juice, and coffee--easily the best food of the trip. And our dog Karl got locally baked dog biscuits. Thank you, Annie! We'll be back as soon as we can!

Room Tip: The kitchen in the Studio Suite had everything we needed to make a simple dinner and had good space...

Every 5 star trip advisor review reflects just how good this place is and how right we were to chose to spend some time with Annie.

It isn't in the centre of town but it is within walking distance (about 20 minutes through the park and across the Mirror Pond). Staying here was just like being at home, well, maybe better as there was no washing up, breakfasts were excellent, there was a hot tub on the deck and you could sit on the balcony outside the room and look across the town to the desert beyond.

The room (we were in the Balcony Room) was excellent with everything you could want including drinks in the 'fridge and tea and coffee freely available in the kitchen. The inn (albeit only 2 guest rooms) is modernist rather than chintz and the better for it. Annie was an excellent host, there when you needed her, full of helpful information and good for a chat to "put the world to rights" over breakfast if you wished but never intrusive. Her advice on where to go, what to see and what to ignore in the guide books was spot-on.

An added bonus? Just down the hill Newmans Supermarket, a great place to buy food for an al fresco meal on the balcony or just for regular supplies. Please open a store near me! Just remember though , if you walk down to do the shopping, you will buy more than you expected and the name of the inn should give you a clue to the way back!

Wish we had stayed longer. Annie and her inn fully deserves the positive feedback on TripAdvisor.

Room Tip: I am sure the balcony room was the best choice of the two but booking either you won't be disapp...

We stayed at the Hillside Inn last week for our (2) nights in Bend. I picked the B&B based on Trip Advisor reviews and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Annie is a wonderful host and goes out of her way to make you feel at home. We stayed in the upstairs Suite and were very comfortable with the layout and size. The outside porch was great for relaxing and having a glass of wine after touring the area. There isn't anything that Annie hasn't forgotten; from bathroom neccessities, in-room refrigerator, wine glasses, silverware, night-lights, slippers, you name it, she has it there for you! My husband is in the resort business and knows what it takes to be 4-5 star and he can only say that she is a 5-star establishment, just excellent! We thank-you Annie for making us feel so welcome and comfortable! Your morning breakfast and coffee is Top-notch and you were accomodating with my dietary needs. We will definately be back to Hillside on our next trip to Bend, it was the nicest place we stayed on our entire 9-day trip to Oregon. I could go on and on about the bed, sheets, decor, etc., it's just fabulous!

The Hillside Inn is a wonderful place to stay. We felt so comfortable and only wish we could have stayed longer. Annie is a wonderful chief too. We looked forward to breakfast each day. Everything she made was absolutely delicious. We would recommend all visitors coming to Bend, to stay at the Hillside Inn.

Thank you both for spending your honeymoon at Hillside Inn. I wish I had had a video of the groomsmen decorating the suite. They had so much fun spreading the rose petals! Thanks for sharing your comments with others....all the best, Annie

In a recent road trip through Oregon we stayed in several B&Bs, each of them well done and completely satisfactory. Hillside does not have spectacular scenery out the door but the setting is beatifully landscaped and constructed to give a sense of quiet and peace. The decor was, to our tastes, the most appealing of those we had seen: colorful yet restrained and always tasteful. The host, Annie, is pereceptive of and responsive to one's whims and needs. The food was both healthy and delicious (not always the case). Annie knows how to help one make the most of the locale and the city. We had a balcony room where we could enjoy the gardening and the pines and sip wine. This Inn is excellent in both details and the atmosphere it accomplishes. Nearby food markets and parks add to the attractions.

The host, Annie has this gig down. You have a wonderful setting with trees and garden with a water sound . It's little homey nick-nacs that add to your comfort. You will notice all this as you tour this quaint home. She has two rooms one suite down and a nice balcony room on second floor with King size beds.. The pillows and sheets are so comfortable that I plan on ordering same from the Company Store. Mattress great fro our older backs. When we walked into our room from the outside balcony she had soothing music on ..good set up with her Cable provider for this and good channel selection. The breakfast was wonderful, she asks what you would like the night before and fixes it a lot better than I ever could.
You can walk down the hill to nice restaurants or easy drive into Bend...old town or over to the New Mill area.

Room Tip: The bottom room provides a kitchen for longer stays..Annie is a nurse as well and can help with outp...

My sis got her "aha" moment when we walked into the studio room. She expected a standard room, not the cozy well equipped apartment we got. We loved the gardens and pond, enjoying the beautiful weather. Annie was very helpful in planning our days and we enjoyed her breakfasts. Sorry Annie....we ate all the Reece cups!!! We def come back!!
