Pilot Butte has a reputation for big burgers and tasty shakes. It is not the place to go when watching your fat and cholesterol intake, but very delicious treat on occasion.

They offer a wide selection of sandwiches and serve up fresh meals quickly . Food is high quality and staff make it a warm restaurant to visit.

If you visit Bend, give it a try and you will likely return!

I have breakfast here almost once a week. Lots of choices, excellent food, and plenty of it. A cup of oatmeal makes a bowl. Get half of an omelet unless you are a big eater. Have not eaten lunch or dinner here.

The iconic places to eat with a flare of Bend before the parkway, Costco, and all the other endless chains would be the Pilot Butte Drive In, Jakes and the Pine Tavern - surviving the test of time. If you were in town for only a day and were planning on eating good and plenty. I would suggest Jake's original eggs benedict (share all meals with a friend) for breakfast, a pilot butte burger and curly fries for lunch; and dinner at Pine Tavern - don't order too big because you will fill up on their scones and honey butter before the entre arrives. If you haven't had enough of Bend walk a couple blocks to the Deschutes Brewery for a night cap.

We used to frequent the Pilot Butte Drive In a few times a year, but had not, until today, been there in at least 9 years. We are long time residents of Bend, and the Pilot Butte Drive In used to be the place for the best burger in town.

We're not sure if our expectations are higher...or the bar in Bend has been raised by their competition. Or, they have just deteriorated in quality and service.

My husbands hamburger was expensive lettuce. Not much meat involved. His burger was $10.95. My salad, also with a lot of lettuce...versus the good stuff that I thought I was getting... was $12,95. The salad dressing was given to us in a big squeeze bottle on our tray, along with ketchup for my husbands' fries. Add to it two sodas and the bill was $28. Wow. That's a lot considering you stand in line to order, then go pick up your food when your number is called. No table service. We could have easily gone downtown to get a tastier meal for the same amount, and leave a nice tip for a hard working server.

The atmosphere hasn't changed in all these years and the booths are oddly placed, dated, old, and not so nice. They need a face lift. The signage inside is tacky and unorganized. It might have been "quaint" in the 80's and 90's, but we have no desire to go back. There are too many other nice, tasty places to go in Bend.

We were looking forward to our dinner here, but were disappointed. Mediocre at best - nothing special. Odd tables. Chili burger was bland. Teriyaki burger wasn't prepared as ordered. Expensive for what we got - over $50 for 4 of us with no side dishes (hamburgers or hot dogs only - no fries).
