“Good Place to Stay in Bend”
Reviewed February 20, 2010

My husband and I recently spent 2 nights at the Comfort Inn & Suites Bend while visiting family in the area. It was clean, comfortable and had friendly staff. We got a 2nd story room facing the main street, but the hotel is set back from the road and we barely noticed the road noise. The king sized bed mattress was comfortable with plenty of bedding. Our only complaint was that the pillows were a bit flat and needed replacing. Bedding and decor were attractive and the room was well maintained. Even though a boy's swim team was staying there the first night we had no issues with noise or sleep interruption. The bathroom had all the necessary amenities, and the room had a small fridge, coffeemaker, and microwave. The breakfast in the morning was an expanded set up with waffle maker, hot oatmeal & toppings, hard boiled eggs, bagels, rolls, fruit, yogurt, cheese sticks, juices, etc. I was glad to see the protein choices.
All in all for the price per night ($65 with AARP rate) it was a great deal. We're returning in April and will stay there again.

Just took a trip to see Creator Lake in Oregon and on the way stopped in Bend, Oregon. We pulled into Bend around 5:30 on a rainy, foggy Wednesday afternoon. Could not see much and were initally not impressed. Checked into a Comfort Inn and asked about a place to eat. This Comfort Inn was a really good place to stay and at a good price. Good location, clean, really nice and friendly people. Offered up the Pine Tavern as a local fav for dinner. WOW, they were correct. Pine Tavern is located in the main section of town on the river. It is an old establishment that has been updated, has trees growing through the middle of the dining area and a really pretty deck/outside eating area over the river. Good casual dining with upscale food. The food was excellent and at a reasonable cost. I will make a trip back and will eat at the Pine Tavern againl. Only downside is finding parking as it is just off main street. Go one block back behind the mainstreet shops and public parking can be found. Easy to find in daylight, a bit harder at night.
The next morning got up to a clear day and were dazzled by the sights. Five minutes outside of the city , was a viewing area where we saw all Three Sister Mts., Black Butte, and Mt. Washington, all with fresh snow on their tops. The views were amazing! We took dozens of pictures but can not reproduce seeing them in person! Went back through Bend and out the other side to the Lava Field. So worth the trip to hike it and worth driving to the top to look out over the field. You can see Batchlor Mt. and Three Sisters and Bend. Again, pictures don't do it justice. Five minutes down the road again and we were at the Lava Tube. A cave created by the lava flow that goes down 5000 ft. They give you a Coleman lanturn and you hike down. If you don't like cold, very dark places, don't go. Fun to say you crossed under the highway at 2000ft and to say you went to the end. But not a lot to see compared to other caves, but then it is a lava tube! Really like the Bend area. Didn't have time to spend in the downtown area but are planning a trip back to walk the old downtown and check out the shops. Will be eating at the Pine Tavern again and staying at the Comfort Inn

I must admit, my expectations were lukewarm at best but we were really surprised with our stay.
The staff was exceptionally friendily and helpful. We were there for a flyfishing weekend and planned to meet the outfitter at 7 AM in the lobby. Well, Comfort Inn's complimentary breakfast starts at 7. So the deskstaff called around the area and found us a place just down the street that started serving at 5AM. I've got to admit, that was service well beyond the price we paid - something seen in the 4-5 star hotels we've visited.
The room was clean and fresh, the complimentary breakfast we had the next AM was good. Basic, but the bagels were fresh, self-made waffles plentiful, and the coffee was constantly refreshed.
The only bad note was that the walls are a little thin and I was awaken each morning by the adjoining room occupant's cellphone. Guess they couldn't figure out how to use the alarm clock ...
Overall, if this is representative of Comfort Inns nationwide, I may start forgoing the Hyatts and Hiltons we normally stay when traveling.

This is a well-located and fine motel about 3 miles or so east of the downtown, just off hiway 20. I stayed 5 nights solo in a king bed unit on the backside, top floor (2 stories). Very nice, clean, and like-new room - excellent bed, bedding, and multi-pillows. Very quiet room but for the always on fan in the bath (just close the door) - the motel is well off the street, so even the front side should be quiet. Maddening TV remote (maybe it was just me), but I really appreciated the frig, microwave, good TV, and the free internet - also the big bath with perfect lighting over the mirror. All rooms have all these amenities now, including BOTH Wi-Fi and ethernet (bring a cable, tho they may have loaners). Simple, digital control for A/C & heat, which were very quiet and worked great.

No spring water in evidence (as older reviews have complained about). Free USA Today and fine breakfast. The coffee maker in the room was great, and the coffee was surprisingly good. Large comfy lobby and very friendly and helpful folks behind the desk. Inexpensive 24-hr self-serve laundry worked fine. Loved the LARGE hot tub (104 degrees) open to 10pm (next to a large pool). I paid $85 with a Little League discount code (worth $5). It's a little more for the "2 queen" rooms, which are larger and worth the extra cost. The two of these overlooking the pool on each floor are the choice rooms, in my opinion.

There's a large mall across the street - McDonald's, supermarket, and lots more. Really GREAT eats at Jake's Diner, about 1/2 mile west on 20 - HUGE portions of excellent grub for reasonable cost - big place & very popular with the locals (hot rod displays every Wednesday in the large lot too).

This is an EXCELLENT choice for your stay in this terrific little town, and the price is right. You won't be disappointed.

Our room was actually booked for my wife and I by my in-laws as this was an unexpected trip due to the passing of my wife's grandfather.

My father-in-law apparently got a bereavement rate, and that was all that I knew before we got here. Upon arrival, we were very surprised and pleased with the cleanliness and comfort of the entire facility.

One of the main things I look for in a hotel/motel is how clean a room is, and I must say that our room definitely met the standard. We had a king size bed and a very spacious room and bathroom as well.

They offer a complimentary breakfast which included fresh made waffles, an assortment of breads/pastries, assortment of cold cereals, fruit, juices, coffee, and hot chocolate. Really, more that I could ask for considering this breakfast saved us $$$ instead of having to go out.

Overall, we were very pleased with our stay here and would recommend to anybody, be it business traveler or last minute guests, like ourselves. Thank you Comfort Inn for not making us worry or fret and allowing us to focus on why we were really in Bend.

My family stayed here while in Bend for a wedding. The room was very nicely decorated, clean, and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly. I loved the shower curtain extender- sure beats having to brush up against a used shower curtain. Was in a good location- a little ways from the downtown "hip" scene but lots of shopping and restaurants are within walking distance of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.
