“Satisfying stay”
Reviewed August 3, 2013

The room was clean and had a comfortable bed. Breakfast offering was complete with hot and cold foods. The fluffy scrambled eggs were tasty. The breakfast room is small and fills up easily. The coffee shop next door was convenient and had good food. We didn't have to drive around town looking for a place to eat dinner. Once you are parked, you are in for the night! All in all, we got a good night's sleep and fulfilling meals -- just what a traveler needs.

I took a chance & Pricelined a motel in Bend bidding $105 ($130 including the zillions of 'taxes' that are added on). Priceline basically said there's no way the bid would be accepted & it was. We were a little worried at first because the exterior of the hotel is a bit dated & it's not in the cutesy downtown but we both decided in the morning we didn't care for these reasons:
We got an awesome nights sleep! The beds are way comfortable (we were given two queen beds which was kinda fun to sleep in a bed all by yourself). There are tons of pillows & hard/soft choices.
The ac worked well & made the room very comfortable.
We heard NO noise from the adjoining rooms which can't be said for newer hotels. We stayed at another chain hotel in OR the next day & we could hear the plumbing running thru the walls & voices in the rooms next to ours.
The towels were thick. I hate drying off with a towel that feels like its a paper towel.
They are dog friendly. We have 2 little pound scrounges & they were gladly welcomed. There's so grassy areas to walk around behind the hotel.
The bathroom was a decent size. The hotel we stayed at the following night had a bathroom so tiny, you had to wedge yourself between the toilet & the shower to close the door! And no, I'm not fat at all.
Our only con was the shower head wasn't working great but I forgot to notify them at checkout so hopefully they'll discover it.
All in all a great stay!
P.S. Eat lunch or dinner at Deschutes Brewery. Great food & beer!

I travel for work every week. I stay in hotels all over the Northwest and the Red Lion in Bend Oregon is the property I have at the top of my. Favorite list. The staff has assisted me so many times I consider them all friends. The rooms are larger than average and the shower heads are high with terrific water pressure. The Beds are clean, comfortable, have too many pillows, I have yet to have a difficult time falling asleep. The gym across the street is free for guests and is decent. You'll find a few well working treadmills and stationary bikes as well as a large free weight/machine room and racquetball but no pool. Check in fairly early to get some delicious cookies.
The staff knows the area and can lead you to local breweries, bike shops, and run trails, trust me, you want to try the breweries, bike shops, and running trails!

Room Tip: For incredible water pressure ask for a room in the basement next to the weight room.

If you are here when there is a firework show on the Butte, ask for a second floor room along the pool row. We had a great view on the first floor as well. It was the most comfortable I have ever been watching a show. Clean and stayed comfortably cool through the hot day. The room was quiet even though we were outside the pool. We had a problem with the TV which resolved on its own which was good because they were unsure if they had a back up. Later, TV had other issues so we let the front desk know on check out. The room was nicely cleaned. Breakfast the next morning was okay: scrabbled eggs, cut potatoes, bacon and sausage, cereal and fruit. Needed to refill the fruit, emptied early.

I used Priceline which listed this place as a 3 star. It is not. The furniture is a bit worn, the room has a slightly musty smell, no flatscreen tv and nothing but a parking lot for a view. For the same street price I've gotten better rooms elsewhere in Bend. That said the rooms are clean & the beds are comfortable. If you're coming here for a vacation and plan on just having a place to sleep as you go out to do your thing it's fine. If having a good setting is important this ain't it.

Driving up to Red Lion in Bend, I wasn't sure about it. It is older looking, not modern . . . But what a great place! Very nice bathrooms and beds. Clean. Pool, again, is older, but well maintained. Lobby is lovely, comfortable, and nicely updated. A full breakfast is provided in a comfortable, updated dining room. Attention is paid to detail. Desk staff very helpful and warm. Would recommend without reservation.

We stayed here 5 nights. Our room was exceptionally clean, but it was small. The giant entertainment center was just too big for the room. The nozzle on the shower was really loose and there was no temperature limiter which can be dangerous to a kid. Our door would stick to the point you had to put your shoulder into it. The staff was great. They were always helpful. The pool area was a favorite for my daughter. It is actually 9 feet deep which you never see now. My only issue was pool deck is very rough. My daughter cut her toes and scraped her leg on it just getting in and out of the pool. The breakfast was pretty standard fare for a motel. The only problem was there was limited seating and the breakfast room was HOT. Parking was an issue if you got in past 10.
