The Red Lion Hotel is centrally located and close to majority of the local activities. They are a dog friendly hotel which is a plus in our books. The rooms were nicely decorated but just a little to narrow. The oversized credenza that held the TV, dresser drawers, and closet all in one unit was way to big for the room. Made it really hard to pass between the bed and credenza without running into the doors that swung outward. The bathroom was "shower only"... so if you are looking to soak in the tub then your out of luck. The hotel was totally booked but I never once heard another soul. The rooms were extremely quiet!!! The breakfast room was quite small and we were lucky enough to find a table, but noticed several couples coming in and taking their food back to their rooms. They did offer a very nice breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage and hashbrowns. Toast, fruit, cereal etc... pretty much everything to fill up for the morning. Overall I would probably stay here again.

I stayed there last week and found it average at best..only because staff was so great. The hotel does not have an elevator so if you are handicapped or otherwise cannot lug a suitcase up a flight of stairs..forget it...great location..good breakfast..ok rooms..older and sort of smelly..stale smelling ? clean though..

Great location close to everything at a great price. I was greated by a happy friendly staff that started my visit off perfect. Clean, quiet and no complaints. The breakfast is good but I sure wish they had a waffle maker.

Room Tip: I picked away from the main road on the upper floor.

This Red Lion is about what you might expect for a hotel in terms of rooms and facilities - but the service here made me feel like I got a great value. Everything was very clean, there were hot drinks and cookies in the lobby when I checked in, the staff was very helpful and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. The breakfast was good too - I'm not a big breakfast person but there was good coffee, nice Tazo teas and fresh pineapple! I'm definitely coming back the next time I need a place to stay in Bend.

Business trip to Bend and a very nice experience compared to one a few weeks earlier. Stayed at The Riverhouse for $30 more a night and it was nowhere as clean and nice as the Red Lion. Don't let the 70s exterior scare you away. The room was new, clean, and huge. Front desk was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was pretty standard motel fare but I only had time once to try it. Perfect location for me, too, near the hospital where I was working. It's on the highway but the room was very quiet.

Stayed here one night in summer as part of a tour around the US. Typical motel style property, plentiful parking, rooms exactly as you would expect and quite spacious if a little musty. Pleasant lobby area with fire where you could sit and read and although we got there too late it looked like they put out some cookies at the front desk and tea/coffee available free in the lobby. Not a lot in Bend itself but we were staying before a visit to the volcanic areas closeby which were really impressive. Does exactly what it says on the tin - breakfast room very busy in the morning though, we took ours back to the room rather than brave the scrum!

What a delight. EVERYTHING worked; nothing broken. The staff at breakfast were attentive. Granted, it is a mid-priced hotel but a very comfortable experience. I thought having to walk across the parking lot to a restaurant called the Black Bear couldn't end well. It was delightful and a real bargain. Likewise, some pet-friendly hotels are anything but. My Westie and I were both made to feel very welcome by all.

Room Tip: Parking spaces are virtually just outside the door. I prefer the upstairs level. Fewer walkers-by.
