This is a nice budget motel. The owners are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well maintained. It was nice that there was both a microwave and refrigerator. Mattresses seemed new. The bathroom size and fittings are standard for this age and category of motel and are in great shape. Some of the rooms have a sub standard height ceiling.

The road is an local through road and is lined with motels and other small businesses, kind of boring but not unsafe. There is some road noise, the upstairs rooms are quieter because the walkway has windows. The tourist downtown area is a mere 3 minutes away by car, where there is free parking, local artisan coffee shops, shopping, and a couple brew pubs, so the location is very convenient. I will use this place again if I am in Bend.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms are quieter if the hall windows are closed. Downstairs rooms have lower ceilings.

We chose this due to high ratings and low cost. The room was very small and I could touch the ceiling. The noise from folks upstairs walking around was bad. The bathroom was tiny. The price should have been $30 rather than $60. The advertised breakfast was trix cereal in the very small lobby which holds 3 people standing. We haven't had breakfast but saw it when checking in. YOu have TO BE KIDING!!! The internet didn't work. The tv did. What more can I say.

It is extremely inexpensive. It is basic, clean, and comfortable. If you expect a gourmet breakfast, you'll be disappointed, but you'll also be able to go to the best restaurant in town, have the best breakfast available, and still pay less than you would have for a FANCY place.

Great place to sleep, while exploring Newberry Craters, Crater Lake, etc. It is a ways from Crater Lake, but there are many things around to explore.

As long as you aren't expecting spa luxury from this cheap motel, you won't be disappointed! The management was so friendly and polite and helpful. The location was unbeatable. The rooms were cute, clean, and comfortable. That's all I ask and that's what I got! Breakfast is just cereal or a packaged pastry, there is only bar soap and a single packet of shampoo as far as toiletries, and you can hear your neighbors moving around. But as long as you aren't a super light sleeper you will love this place. Just bring your own toiletries and don't expect much at breakfast. On the plus side for breakfast, there was french vanilla creamer! Simple souls, this is your home in Bend, OR.

Stay here, really good location. No pool or restaurant, but who cares? Excellent value. Reasonable, Clean. Soft cotton sheets. Newly remodeled. Pride of ownership shows through and through. Fast, free internet. You don't come to Central Oregon to swim in a pool anyway!

Mom and I stopped there on the way home to San Diego. The manager was very helpful. He sent us to a park that was nearby and very nice. The rooms were ok, but nothing special. The air conditioner was quite loud but the beds were comfortable. The room was clean, but amenities were scarce. We might stay there again if we were passing through but would not make a special trip.

Room Tip: The ones in the back are a little quieter.

The title "Lodge" and the home website of this hotel convey a misleading picture of the reality of this place. It is definitely not "quiet", only fairly "clean" and a far stretch from being "Bend's nicest small hotel". I am not a picky traveler, though, and i was satisfied with most aspects of my 4 night stay. The room was small but sufficient for me. The free wifi was reliable. There was a big, flat screen tv on the wall that provided a contrast with the old fashioned furnishings. The bed was comfy, and the heater was very effective, quickly warming the room. One of my pillowcases had a rather unpleasant fresh, red stain on it, when i arrived. The location is convenient to everywhere, because it is on Business 97, the main route through Bend. The location also makes this place very noisy with nearly incessant traffic sounds.
The family who owns the place is nice. They responded very quickly and helpfully to my requests.
The breakfast options were terrible-- 2 sugar cereals, fake orange juice, packaged pastries. Only edible thing was bananas.
If you are not picky and are looking for a bargain, you can find a decent bed at the Sonoma Lodge.
