We took the Secrets of Bend Culinary Tour and were surprised and delighted by the places we visited and the culinary treats we sampled. A side of Bend's great food and drink scene we knew nothing about. Our guide, Natalie, was informative, knowledgeable, and fun. We highly recommend this or any of the Fork's other tours.

Spent a great few hours with Natalie of the Well Traveled Fork during our recent trip to Bend. We visited the DD Ranch, Maragas Winery and Rainshadows Organic Farm. Natalie was a great tour guide. Learned lots of interesting info about the Central Oregon area/geograhy, sustainable ranching and organic farming. Many thanks to Linda and her family at DD. Our 25 year old daughter and 22 year old son really enjoyed the animals, domestic and farm. Don't get much chance to see newborn piglets where we come from. The wines at Maragas were very good and the owner's daughter kept us entertained as she tried her best to learn a Katy Perry song! Was a fun day which I highly recommend to all who visit the Bend/Central Oregon area.

I surprised my husband for this 40th birthday with a private tour of local food and drink establishments. We had a great time exploring Bend with the Well Traveled Fork, our tour guide Meiko, she is awesome our daughter is attending their baking camp for kids this summer! We just moved to Bend 6 months ago and this was a great way for us to get to know some great local businesses.

During our tour we visited and tasted lots of great local stuff at:

Savory Spice in the Old Mill where we got some great salt, local spice rubs, local tea, local ginger candy, and local dried lentils.

Sarah's Raw and Vegan Cafe - great smoothies and awesome prayer flags.

Boneyard Beer - learned how to brew beer, taste tested several kinds in their tasting room and we got a behind the scenes sneak peek at the facility as well as getting to taste their secret 4 one-off beers they make for themselves for fun. Our favorite one had rum and spices in it! My husband got a growler of great beer there.

We finally found and explored Central Oregon Locavore a fabulous grass roots CSA turned local shop for only local stuff. Way cooler than Whole Foods and my new source for my favorite local ginger brew as well as candles, sage sticks, Kombucha, and local meat/produce.

Primal Cuts is the nicest butcher shop I've ever visited and the meat is local and DELICIOUS. We met Bryan the owner and he was awesome. We picked up birthday steaks to grill as well as the best turkey deli meat ever. Got a fantastic turkey sandwich there to go. We've gone back every week since to buy our local meat.

We also sampled local brews at Growler Phil's and I got a mini growler (A growlerette) of local Lemon Ginger Kombucha.

We picked up fresh out of the oven, warm buttermilk biscuits at Baked. Bakery.

Then headed over to Oregon Spirit Distiller to finish our tour and hung out with the CEO, Brad as he walked us through the distilling process and showed us how they make their batches of local Bourboun (bought a bottle) Whiskey, and Gin. We also sampled their Absynthe. We had so much fun and learned a lot!

This tour is a must do for couples, friends, and tourists. More locals should take advantage of this gem and learn their way around their own home town - so many great sources for GREAT local food and spirits!

My husband and I attended Chef Bette’s class on Cooking with a Wood Burning Oven. We just built a Wood Burning Pizza Oven and were anxious to tap into Chef Bette's experience with cooking with one. This class was so much fun! Chef Bette and her assistant Lisa made a yummy appetizer and dessert. We each took turns making a pizza with chef while the others chatted on the deck of her beautiful home. I've had problems with making pizza dough that wasn't sticky and she gave me a lot of help with this. We tried a piece of everyone's pizza (along with 3 more that Chef made) so that we could test out different toppings. It was a fun filled night with helpful hints, great food, wonderful company and recipes to take home. (You can use a regular kitchen oven for these recipes.) I would highly recommend any class given by Chef Bette.

The next morning we took the Farm to Ranch Tour given by Aliza. We’re interested in gardening, and Bend has similarities to Central Texas, so we thought we could pick up some pointers. We went to three organic farms and learned something from each one of them. What a fun way to spend the morning! Aliza was a terrific guide who gave us plenty of info on the area as well as organic farming as we traveled to each farm.

Check out The Well Traveled Fork if you’re looking for an out of the ordinary experience during your travels.

So grateful to Chef Bette and her amazing team at Well Traveled Fork. She created an amazing meal for a large group who had come together to celebrate my parent's 50th wedding anniversary, and had the entire party oohing and aahing at not only the amazing taste of all the dishes - all made with local, tasty ingredients - but also at the beautiful presentation of all of the food. Since we came together in Bend from California, Oregon, and Washington, it was so wonderful to have the amazing meal prepared, delivered and served up in the comfort of our rental home in Sunriver. We had carnivores and vegetarians in attendance, and everyone had dishes that made them happy and full.

I planned the entire meal over email with Chef Bette from California, and it couldn't have been smoother. Thank you Chef Bette and Well Traveled Fork for making a special evening even more special!
