“More like a mountain resort than a hotel”
Reviewed June 13, 2009

Stayed a long weekend (5 days) with friends in other rooms. Big rooms, some with Jacuzzi tubs, and the buildings on the river have spectacular views of river, wildlife, and the sunset over the fantastic mountains. Separate buildings spread out, more like a resort. Included breakfast buffet was very good and worth staying at the hotel for. Food in restaurant was very good for other meals too. Didn't order room service but prices extremely reasonable. Location had easy access in all directions to the plentiful excursions the Central Oregon area has to offer. Attentive management jumped in when the desk backed up and you could tell they are engaged and care about their establishment. Beds very comfortable after a long day of hiking and running around.

Can't say enough good things about this delightful spot. Lots of parking, two swimming pools. Rustic looking but very nice buildings. Great staff members. Manager Julie Put and clerk Nicole took great care of us.

This the first time I ever felt the desire to report on a hotel.

I have been going to Bend for quite some time on business. My company has previously used a different hotel in town and I asked them to try someplace different. I was extremely impressed with the Shilo and from on now will be sure to stay at the Shilo when visiting the Bend area. I was greeted and checked in swiftly by a very accomodating and helpful employee. Although located on top, I still had a nice view of a grass area and outdoor pool. I wandered the property and found that alot of the rooms sit on the river. I assume that they accept pets as their is plenty of room for them and I saw several folks with dogs. Had a quiet evening in the lounge and the next morning a breakfast of sausage, bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, and toast..all including in my rate. Even though travelling on business I felt as though I were in a resort on vacation. The management should be proud of their associates, everyone that I encountered was professional, friendly, courteous and was obvious that they enjoy what they do.

The photos of this hotel and the landscaping is excellent however the room I had 304 was from 1980, dark, and musty. The hotel restaurant has no character at all (breakfast was okay). The pool roof was open so the pool was cool on a not so warm day. They need to readjust thier budget and renovate thier rooms and let the grass get a little taller. Back in the day this must have been the place to stay (party rooms) but certainly does not live up to the hype other have given it. Check out your hotel options elsewhere.

I work in hospitality and do believe that this was one of the best stays at a hotel in awhile. Keep up the good work and hope to return again.

We stayed at the Shilo because we've had great experiences throughtout the Northwest with this chain from Tacoma to Newport. We can always rely on Shilo being reasonably priced, comfortable and dependable. We really enjoyed the restaurant - too bad there isn't more people taking advantage of the great food and service. All staff was courteous from front desk, housekeeping to the maintenance people. We'll be back! Thanks Shilo!

Not a bad place to stay. We had a large room on the third floor with a king bed. There was a ton of space between the bed and table, so the size of the room was more than large enough. Mattress and pillows seemed fine. Shower water pressure and temperature were fine, although the height of the shower head could have been higher (third floor has shower head on slanted roof, so 1 and 2 might be better), and the pipes were quite loud. We sat in one of the indoor hot tubs and it was nice, although the jets were a little violent. Didn't get to try the outdoor one (wasn't opened) and didn't get to try either of the pools (do to very rude unattended softball tournament girls). The internet connection worked great considering it is only 11 Mbps. The included breakfast buffet was not too bad either. Overall the place was pretty good and we would potentially stay here again.
