The bird watching here is delightful. Many species of birds and it's quiet enough to hear the bird songs. Going here for a shaded walk in nature is also lovely but the main attraction is the abundant plant and bird life.
They do have a nature store with wonderful books. Often the Tualatin Park rangers are out and answer questions or lead specific tours. Lovely to have such green space in this area.

This place is very unexpected.....in the middle of busy Beaverton, is this oasis. Walking into the park you so find yourself in a beautiful wooded area and the noise of the streets disappear. The paths are not very well marked, you really need to watch for signs, if you care about staying on one path that is, the park is not so large that you can get terribly lost. some paths are paved some are not. The walking is easy and flat....very important to know.

In the middle of the city, but once you're there you don't realize that.

A great place to get away for a while, and actually be in nature.

Just be warned, no dogs allowed. (and at least on their signs and website, no exceptions for service animals either...)

One of my favorite things to do is to walk through the woods of the state, you know the green areas that aren't being needlessly developed into more apartment complexes and homes that will sit empty, or more business centers that, again, will sit empty. The nature parks in the area are nice, although I wish they were a bit longer. This is a good area to walk and view some nature.

I am venturing out into the West-side of Portland more and figured I would go check out Tualitin Hills Nature Park. Absolutely gorgeous. You have the option of taking a paved trail, or you can go off-road on some of the less-traveled routes. The forest is majestic. I ventured over to the pond area and was rewarded with an unobstructed view of a Great Blue Heron fishing in the pond. And then he took flight and was off. I felt safe traveling solo, there were always people within shouting range if need be. And I felt I could walk for miles, though I was never really that far from the Interpretive center. A great, easy urban hike. I say go.
