We were out of town when our annual birthday certificate came for my husband's birthday and we made reservations for the last day of September, knowing it would expire. Called later in he month to make the reservation, mentioning it was for a birthday. We added another couple the next day, again mentioning the birthday. After eating (food and chef were very good), after the birthday sundae and the birthday picture, we were presented with the bill minus the $30 discount for the Chef's Table Birthday Discount. When we spoke to the waitress, she said it was only honored Monday thru Thursday. This was September 30, a Sunday. Granted, we did not mention "Chef's Table" when we called, but feel they might have asked if our birthday reservation was for the Chef's Table, then we would have been "forewarned". Again, as we sat down and told them it was for a birthday, the waitress at that time might have inquired if it was for the Chef's Table reward, again giving us the option of leaving if it was not going to be honored on Sunday. If handled appropriately, we might have stayed anyway As a result of the unmentioned restriction, the restaurant will now lose our business in the months to come, losing way more than the $30 discount they refused to honor. Even though the Monday thru Thursday restriction WAS mentioned in the email, we feel a backup reminder when you call or when you sit down would have been excellent customer service if. like us, it had been almost a month since we had viewed the email and we called later in the month without "reviewing" it. We feel we aren't the only people not fully aware of the restriction when they call. A kind reminder of the rules wouldn't lose the business, would only take a few minutes time, and would be appreciated, possibly resulting in rescheduling but no ill will. Good food but poor management of the Chef's Table. Too bad
