“That's an Ocean view?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2010

I called at 2:00 ( as directed) to see about early check-in. I was told it wouldn't be possible. So I rolled up at 4:00 (check-in time) and was given my room assignment by a very nice gentleman. he seemed so nice that i was only mildly annoyed at having to wait another 15 minutes for my room to get ready. (If you knew at 2:00 that I was ready to get into my room, wouldn't mine be one of the first rooms you cleaned to ensure that it's at least ready by 4:00?)

My room was $139 on a Tuesday night...which, from what I can tell, is more than typical for this type of room/hotel in Bandon.

For that price, I expect my ocean view to be quite nice. Mine sucked! The window was about 75% parking lot and 25% ocean (as in just the still blue ocean - no waves crashing into the beach - because to see that from my angle, I'd have needed to be about 6 stories higher).....
If I stood in just the right spot in the corner of the room, hen it was more like 50% ocean.

Having said that, it looked like several (most?) of the rooms had great views. But I didn't seem to get a discount for having a crappy "oceanfront" view. I'd have asked for a different room, but there were no better rooms available.

If not a great view, I would expect more frills for that price. There were none. No pool, no breakfast, etc.

The room itself was fine, although the beds were pretty firm and I prefer soft. I had a room with a kitchenette....and the cupboards all had the doors removed....i thought that was odd and and a little unaesthetic, but it didn't really change my opinion of the room.

It's not only the view, but also the friendly staff, the clean rooms and the direct access to the beach that make the bandon beach motel a really nice place to stay.
We really enjoyed our vacation at this unique place at the beach with the seals and sealions, the rocks and the sand...
The coffee was good (even for Europeans) and the rooms were perfectly cleaned. It's amazing what you made out of this motel.
We stayed two nights in room 108, which was really nice, and for one night we had room 206, which was just breathtaking.

If you are looking for a no-nonsense motel with a spectacular view (get a second floor ocean view room) you will not be disappointed. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The room was not fancy but was functional (frig and microwave). This place is about location, location, location. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Pacific right next to a beach access staircase. Enjoy!

The room was reasonably sized, double bed, small round table, 2 chairs, TV, fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Clean & well decorated. Expensive considering the lack of amenities but one is paying for the view.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a trip around Oregon. Based on previous reviews here, we specified room 206 which gave fantastic views of the coastline and we were not disappointed. It is a very friendly family-run motel and they were all very helpful and ready to give advice about the surrounding area. They have only been running the motel for the last twelve to eighteen months and are gradually working on improving it. Although the weather was not that good, we spent as much time as possible exploring the beach, it can be easily reached from steps just outside the motel. The room was very cosy and the fire came in useful to dry our clothes after getting caught in heavy rain.

The motel is situated a little way outside of the town but in good weather it would have been possible to walk there with no problem. Bandon itself is a quaint little town and good breakfasts can be found at the Minute Cafe,

Don't be put off by the exterior of the motel, this is a wonderful place to stay and if we ever return to Oregon we would certainly stay again, hopefully with better weather the next time.

Just one thing to note, there is another run-down motel just before you get to the Bandon Beach Motel with a similar name which caused a bit of panic until we drove past and recognised our motel from the pictures on the website.

After a long and exhausting search for a place to stay I finally found the Bandon Beach Hotel. We were doing the coastal drive starting in Portland and ending up in San Francisco. We had 9 days for the whole adventure and so drove to Bandon after spending 2 days in Portland. It was a long drive but the reward was, as Caleb promised me on the phone, the most "awesomest" view...and it did not disappoint. The hotel itself is nothing special it is all about location, location, location. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The bed was OK, bath had all we needed and free internet in the room. No in house food but a complete set of menus for local food in the rooms. I thought the price was a bit high but you really are paying for the view. After a long day in the car it was a perfect place to end. We wanted to take a walk on the beach in the morning but unfortunately it was pouring rain. So I would highly recommend this hotel but don't expect a great room, just a very good room.

First impressions of this motel are not good. It's old and in need of some paint and repair on the outside. But don't let that deter you from staying!

The motel is located up on a bluff above the beach. It's next to a public parking area which is fairly busy during the day, but quiet and deserted at night. Directly in front of the motel is a large empty field where people walk out on the bluff. It is too far to town to walk, but is only a few minutes' drive.

The rooms are all nicely refurbished and are clean, light and and airy. The standard rooms are on the small side, but they have some corner rooms which are larger. We stayed in corner room #206. The view was great, but the small balcony is not private, as there is only a little bit of railing between your balcony and the neighbours'. Fortunately that room was empty, but it would not be pleasant if somebody were smoking out there or there was a noisy child.

Our room had a microwave and fridge, plus the usual coffeemaker. There is no breakfast served here. There is free wifi.

The price was quite high for an older building - we paid $130/night in April. The standard rooms are much less expensive and a better value, although the prices increase in the summer.

The managers seemed to be exceptionally friendly and helpful with just the right personalities to operate a small inn :-)

We'd stay here again, but probably in one of the standard rooms.
