“A hidden gem”

I was worried about this place, but pleasantly surprised. You do have to get past the decor - 60's formica, etc. But the property has a drop-dead gorgeous location overlooking the dunes and beach and ocean (including all those rocks offshore). Nothing to block your view or beach access. Our unit was very spacious - 2 doubles up, another queen down, plus kitchen / dining / living area. Bathroom is small and could use facelift, but functional, and actually, had best towels of all the hotels on our OR tour! It was dated, but very clean and well equipped, with one exception. Don't know if it was overlooked, but we had shampoo provided, but no soap, and had to use the "emergency bar" we'd grabbed at our Portland chain hotel. This is the kind of place you could come for several days, and get very, very comfortable, and even do a little eating in. You won't find a better view - good value!

We stayed in one of the newer luxury rooms. Cozy, self-contained, not at all musty. Small refrigerator, microwave, two burner stove top, toaster, coffee maker, pots and pans, plates, glasses, cups and silverware. No oven. Combination tub and shower. Housekeeping service is very good.
The small size limits long stays, but four nights was just right. Our upstairs neighbors were quiet but could be heard through the ceiling. If you don't mind climbing stairs, stay upstairs. Otherwise this place has it all. Dog friendly, wifi, cable TV and a practical gas fireplace. Close to grocery store, shopping and restaurants. Every room has beautiful sunset views over the ocean and an easy walk to the beach. (200 yards to the water). Convenient wash off hose keeps some of the sand out of the rooms. Old town Bandon is a five minute drive.

We only stayed one night thank goodness. The first thing you notice when you open the door and enter is the musty smell. Then you look around and notice how outdated and dirty things were. There was mold in the bathroom. Stains all over the carpet and chair, but probably the worst thing of all was when my brother in-law saw a mouse in the loft were my sister, him and 2 children were to sleep!

The views are spectacular and the place is awfully cute from the outside, but the inside of the rooms need updating.

A comedy of error's right from the get go so to speak except not so funny. Made reservations in advance for 2 adults & 2 children for 2 nites. First nite we pulled out hideabed for children the sheet provided did not fit and no top sheet provided. No extra pillow. Blanket smelled of vomit so elected not to use it. Tried to use the little door with intercom/ phone next to the office . for help as it was after 9 pm . No answer. Another guest heard our dilema and offered his blanket & pillow to use. Next morning upon voicing our problem to the assist manger he was sympathic and said he would credit us for the nite. We felt this was kind and fair of him and decided to stay another nite if the problem would be taken care of. The problem was taken care of so the rest of the stay was enjoyable. BUT WAIT. When checking my credit card account activity we were credit $30.00 not the full nite. After 4 calls, one of which the assistant manager said that he couldn't make that decision and he would speak to the manager and call me back. 2 days no return call. Finally on 4th attempt I reached the manager who said THE OWNERS said neither the assistant mgr. or the manger could make the decision on credit. Sounds like passing the buck to me. SO
my advise is check out the rooms first. double check everything and then make your decisions. As for us we will Definitely stay some where else!!!!!

True, the view is spectacular, but it's also spectacular down the street at the Sunset Motel and it doesn't cost quite as much. No hair-dryer, guest laundry facility, phones. There is a coffee urn in the lobby, but it seems to be for decorative purposes only. We stayed for three days and didn't have room service once, the last day they explained that the "Maid Service Please" sign was blown off the door and they weren't sure if we didn't want to be disturbed or if we wanted maid service. So I changed our sheets and emptied the trash and went to the office for fresh towels and toilet paperl. We were out at the time walking on the beach. Make sure you get one of the cabins that has an upstairs attached, the rooms are very noisy with people staying overhead. Notes all over the place about not using the tatty frayed white towels to clean our shoes or car. And they provided an old green stained wash cloth for use in removing make-up. For $200 per night I expect more.

Like many of the older hotels on the Oregon Coast, this place has small, quaint rooms with limited amenities. However, our room was immaculate and very comfortable. We had the mid-priced room with a small deck, a nice kitchenette, and beds both upstairs and down. The stairs are steep, but the little room upstairs has two beds and windows on each side of the room which let the sea breezes blow through, along with the sounds of the ocean. The view from the deck is amazing! The hotel is high on a bluff and you can see forever. The sunset the night we stayed was spectacular. They have direct beach access over a nice path -- I mention this because we've stayed at other hotels which promised the same but actually had something more like dangerous obstacle courses the the beach. We will definitely stay here again, if we get the chance, and we'll stay longer and bring groceries.

We lucked into this motel after hunting for the Best Western in Bandon. The Windermere was right across the street on the beach. The cottages were very roomy and comfy. Our cottage could easily sleep a family or group of six or more. It had a bedroom upstairs with two double beds and a queen downstairs. It was very homey and cute. The price (around 108) was fair considering the location. We sat on the back deck outside our room(s) and watched a beautiful sunset on the Pacific after a long day of traveling. In the morning we made coffee in the kitchenette then walked down the well maintained path/stairway to the beach. The beach was clean and totally amazing. (We are from Texas and are accustomed to the Gulf Of Mexico's beaches). It was hard for us to leave and continue on our journey. I will be back someday!
