“Awesome view”

Don't take this hotel if you want something fancy,... but the view on the oceanfront (ask for these rooms !!) is astonishing,... (try to google imagges on Bandon, Oregon)..... The hotel is not recommended for people who want to lay on the beach all day (cold water, cold winds)... Rooms are a bit out of date, but there is a full kitchen installed. However well recommended for people who travel between San Francisco and Seattle/Portland. Room comes with free WiFi

We spent one night at the Sunset Motel on a drive down the Oregon coast. What a great find! We tried the Best Western Inn first, but they were full and recommended that we drive a mile to the Sunset. Thank you, Best Western!

We stayed in unit 200, a funky two-story, definitely old-school place with a sitting room and kitchen downstairs and two queen beds, bathroom, and balcony upstairs (for the same price as a regular room). Sure the furniture is dated, but that only added to the feeling that we were "somewhere," as opposed to an anonymous cookie-cutter motel. Yep, we liked it. The room had a wonderful view of the ocean and Face Rock (which, by the way, is just a bit creepy if the first time you see it is at sunset.) The views of the ocean are pretty much unobstructed from where we stayed.

The bed was very comfortable, and that's the main thing. We had been on vacation for about five weeks by the time we arrived here, staying in a variety of places, and this was one of the two most comfortable beds I slept in during the entire time. The only complaint about the room is that the shower head is just a bit too aggressively old-school. It needs changing. And the wireless internet connection was just a bit patchy, though it never actually stopped working. Other than that, give me this place any time. Sure, the motel doesn't have a lot of amenities, and the breakfast is uninteresting (yogurt, muffins, and coffee, but you pay for the juice), but when I'm on the road and just looking for a clean, comfortable place for the night, those aren't the things I look for. Was the Sunset Motel clean? Yes. Was it quiet? Yes. Was it comfortable? Very.

If we pass through again, we'll stop looking and come here first.

Stayed here 2 nights. Wonderful view over the ocean - BUT, the whole place looks like it is about to fall down. Stayed at the Vern Brown Addition - 3 storey motel on stilts. We were on the second floor and it sounded like we had elephant family on 3rd floor. What we didn't know was that 3rd floor is actually at road level, so had to hike the cases down the stairs.

Room was really dated and bedding had those awful multi-coloured covers on. Bathroom was not big - very disappointing overall.

Breakfast was wrapped muffin and coffee. At the rates they charge, breakfast should be included. How long can Sunset Motel rest its laurels on its view??

We had dinner at the Best Western further up the road - it looked really nice and the staff at dinner were really good and the food was great. They don't have the same view - the motel opposite, which looked nice, did have the views.

I wouldn't recommend Sunset Motel - go to the Best Western.

If you are looking for an amazing view, clean and comfortable rooms and the most amazing, smiling helpful staff.......then this is the place for you! My daughter and I stumbled upon this place last year and were just so happy with our stay. I wanted to write a great review but wanted my husband to be able to see it before the swarms of people looking for the best play to stay in Bandon came and inundated it. It was a selfish motivation and to all who missed out so far, I am very sorry! My husband, daughter and I just returned from our best trip yet.

The Sunset Motel offers a continental breakfast with coffee, muffins and yogurt. (But, if you stay in the Vern Brown addition, with your own kitchen and dining table, you can have your own breakfast, lunch and dinner with the best view of all. They come equipped with dishes, cooking utensils, stove, refrigerator and microwave.

You can work if you must, or keep in touch with personal business with the availability of wi-fi. Also, you can keep in shape, by swimming in an indoor heated pool, and then relaxing in the jacuzzi.

The most wonderful place to stay in Bandon! A cozy, hidden gem on the beach just waiting to acommodate you!

We've been visiting Bandon since I first met my hubby 17 years ago. He had stumbled upon it more than 25 years ago with his ex while visiting Bandon and he fell in love with the town and this little gem of a hotel. They have done quite a bit of expanding since then. We stay in the Vern Brown Addition that sits right on the beach and you can't beat the view out the back door. The seagulls love to hang out on the balcony and pimp you for handouts. We are sure to bring some extra bread for them each time for the entertainment value.

This is not the place for you if you want luxury amenities. They do have an indoor pool, but if you want simple and CLEAN, this is it. We have never had a room that wasn't spotless. Yes, they could do with a matress upgrade but the carpets are clean and are always vacuumed every day, the sheets & towels are changed every day and blankets are taken off and washed after every guest. The bedspreads are new and clean. We always get a room with a kitchenette and the dishes, while not fancy, are always clean and tidy. I've never felt I had to bring a bottle of bleach and a can of Lysol and run around disinfecting the entire room. If I had to do that, I wouldn't stay.

Although, your best bet is to stay on the top floor. We have only stayed ONCE on a lower floor and regretted it. On our last night, the people above never stopped CLOMPING back and forth, back and forth until past midnight. It was ridiculous. How much walking can you do in a hotel room for 5 hours straight for God's sake? It was like being below a herd of elephants running laps. My hubby finally snapped and stood up on the bed and pounded the ceiling. It finally stopped at almost 1 in the morning. The desk clerk felt terrible and did give us a discount on our next visit. I usually don't complain about things that are beyond their control, but this was horrible.
Hopefully they will do some upgrades to that part of the hotel since it was built in 1988. It's not dilapitated or anything, it's just due for a remodel.

Lord Bennett's across the street from there is a great resturant with great service, good food and a nice view.
